  • Hence the reason I opted for a built in slide in my Drifta drawer system for my 60l ARB. The DS 50 was too heavy for my liking (around 40kg?)as I regularly need to remove my drawer system at a moments notice. However they look great and are a fantastic idea, Just took up too much space and weight.

      • Yea it is disappointing considering the price they are asking, if black widow had their largest unit ready to go I would have gone with their one, it looks like a great unit, sadly they don't have an expected time frame for this one to be ready.

With the fridge living in the back of the prado, I needed a more versatile way of using the fridge, I'm not overly concerned about the loss of space, or the extra weight of the drawers. Will make bugger all difference to the car.

Hey mavkayvx! Glad to see your back on bud! Yea the prado has transformed in a big way since you left, atleast with your new buggy it's still a Toyota , I like your idea of powering the fridge and I would prefer to put the battery down back, as it would allow me to run a larger batt, but sadly I don't think it will be possible to squeeze it down the left of the fridge, so I guess it will be mounted down front as per trad methods...

Yea thanks bud, want I have a gander at the ARB ones in the flesh to see if they have the high sides on them, thinking it would be handy to be able to mount the winch isolator off the side

Well after a lot of mulling on how I am going to do this dual battery, I ended up going with a 120ah agm batt that's going to be tied down above the drawers in the back of the car. The battery place I popped into were already having a good deal but I managed to talk them down to $320 which I think is a good price for it's size. It's a neuton power 120agm. Just need to finish getting the cabling and then running it all.

I just did a bit of playing trying to decide where this will fit on my drawers and realized it wasn't as wide as I first thought. It will actually fit in the dead space on the left side of the fridge. This is a massive bonus as it will save the right hand side from losing any more room. Will just need to put some insertion rubber around it to protect the battery and my plastic panels.

                • That's a great use of dead space.

                  • nice lateral thinking mate.

I hear what you say re the drop slide, very heavy and bloody expensive... have decided that i'm going to have a crack at trying to make one myself... just need to find a how-to and I'll be set!

Thanks d4d and myst, I grabbed all the wire today aswel as a fused distribution point, will be using 2b&s for the power feed from the isolator, should minimise any voltage drop from the rear, this will also allow me to use the override switch to jump start if need be, although the battery place said that this particular battery won't like starting a car. But as a worst case I would prefer to stuff an aux battery than be stuck in the boonies with a dead start battery.

Myst seeing how your drawer build has come along mate, I have no doubt that your fidge slide would be a ripper of a unit.

With all the extra weight in the back I've actually had to go to a heavier spring in the back now. Hopefully should be here by the end of the week.

                          • Hi Ghost,

Trying to track down the difference between your Bilsteins and the A712's. Do you notice any difference since the swap, and do you know if these have the same open/closed lengths as the A712?

I think your part number might be 24-238762 ?

                            • Nice build thread mate, haven't read it all, but just read about all your dramas when replacing your exhaust, oh man what an eventful situation. Im going to do mine next week and what happened to you is my biggest fear, so i hope it goes well ! I have all new parts so just incase any fail ill still be able to get it all together as i wont have a spare car to pop down and get the rest of the bits !

                              Cheers Joel
