    DANCING SHOES

At the same time that I got the suspension fitted, I cut a deal for 5 x Mickey Thompson Baja ATZ 4-rib.
$360 each incl. fitting & balancing for 256/70/R17.
They were the most aggressive AT I could find that still managed to perform admirably on the wet bitumen.
So far they have been through driving rain on highways at 100km/hr and some serious tracks near Dargo - out Haunted Stream way.
Extremely happy with the choice thus far!

Aaaaah very nice, I've also got this same fridge setup in my 90 and looove it. It's always handy to have a fourth seat in the event that you need to give someone a lift. Your fridge mount system is really good!

I like the fridge mount, think I'll be ordering one, mind if I ask how much it cost?

No need, its obvious he has "Viagraed" the suspension.
Some may say he has even undergone "enhancement" by dropped in 80 series shocks!

Besides, we all know better than to argue with SWMBO, if she wants it stiff then so be it. Axewell, just watch out she doesn't ask you to take her on a long hard drive and maintain the stiffness for hours (if she does drink plenty of waterr and good luck)

Haha! I probably didn't word that the best did I?

Cheers edgy. It works really well for us too- especially as SWMBO is vertically challenged and loves to be able to stand on the side step and reach in.

Not at all. Got it from John at Lifestyle racks. $155 and I (well some friends) picked it up from him in Glen Iris. I'm sure he could freight it to NT too.

Haha! Hmmm. I hope my stiffness 'rates' are enough to keep her satiated!

                  AIR

Finally got round to a few more mods. Mounted my old ARB Air compressor under the bonnet near the ABS on the driver's wheel arch.
Not much room, but it just fits with North-South <1cm of space at each end.
Used all the existing mounts it came with and bolted it into the arch with a backing plate on the underside. Wrapped all the wiring in the engine bay in conduit & mounted the relay high on the side near my existing fuse box. Ditched the inline fuse in favour of using the fuse box too.

Sent the cables into the driver's foot well through the large grommet. Removed the kick panel & the lower panel under the steering column.

Pulled off all of the dash whilst I was there as well as I had to do a couple more things under there next!
3 bolts on the drivers cover in the end- bottom right, bottom left and one just to the right of the ignition barrel under a plastic trim piece. Eventually got it off and unplugged everything.

Routed the cables up and into the fuse box so that I could put the switch next to the existing dimmer switch on the plate there.

A bit of scraping & melting of the switch mount at the back widens it enough for the Carling switch to sit in there nicely.
Just had to be careful not to damage the front facia. Looks OK in the end!

                      BUNNY BURNER PRE-WIRE

Whilst I was running those cables through the firewall, I thought I would send back the yellow wire for my IPF spotties that will be going on later. You can see the end plug for it hanging out in the above photo. I intend to cut that plug & wire them into a Carling style 'Bunny Burner' switch.

Then I 'conduited' & routed the whole wiring loom in the engine bay ready to go and mounted the relay near my fuse box.
Will be plug & play once the bar goes on and the lights are mounted.

[Updated pic to follow- relays etc have been adjusted]

Make sure you silicon up the grommet or you will get something between a free foot rinse through to a flooded cabin on your first water crossing.

Good point MLC. I have another wire to put through there and then it will get a healthy dose!

                            CB MOUNT

Whilst half the dash was off I thought I may as well mount the CB unit.
Pulled the centre part of the dash off in its various pieces:

Starting with the silver pieces (GXL) either side of the auto I found it wasn't too difficult and no clips were broken.

I really wanted to get to the ashtray surround to get it out so I could mount the remote head of my GME 3440 to the underside of it.

A couple of tek screws after some measuring and that was that.

Next I needed to find somewhere to mount the unit itself under the dash.
It needed to be secure, out of my leg's way, have the speaker still audible & not rattle - I hate rattles!
Pulled off the heater duct from under the dash & had a poke around.
Just to the left of the steering column there is a metal bracket that has nothing on it.

It already had one hole in it and with some awkward maneuvering I was able to get a drill in and make a 2nd one.
I just wasn't comfortable only have the one bolt holding it in there.

Had to slightly modify the backing plate for the CB unit to accommodate the new fixing point and then just used a smaller bolt & nut. It just clears the steering column and its surrounds. Shouldn't move anywhere!
