    My most recent addition.

32" MTZ, 265/75/r16. I decided against a front locker and had these fitted yesterday.

They sure proved their worth climbing Mt Walker, but after seeing glen_ep's performance today, a front locker is back on the shopping list.

          Bash plate mod

This is one I wrote up for my Blog some time back and have been meaning copy/paste it to the build for some time.

The problem I've set to about to fix is the gaping hole at the sides of the Mac 4x4 bash plate that offer mud and water a line-of-sight path to the alternator and other electrical goodies.

My solution was to cut some 1mm steel plate to cover the gap

I used silicone adhesive applied in vertical beads to allow any water that gets caught between the plates to drain out.

The finished product is as ugly as sh** but I don’t care. It’s not there to look good. I haven't bothered to paint as felt it was a waste of time. If the galvanized plate rusts away it's easily replaced.

Because Silicone has been used, if there are issues with cooling due to restricted air flow, the plates can be removed easily later on.

Nah, they are old photos. I'm thoroughly impressed with the MTZ. I haven't found them any worse than the cooper ATRs on road and they leave the ATRs for dead off road.

Hi Declan, I also increased the rubber flaps under the guards as well on my old V6, I pulled the old ones off, used them as a template and basically just increased the size of it, so it hung down lower as I found alot of mud and water was shot up through the inner guard as well which at one point left me without an alternator after a day out with PP. Luckily was on LPG (which I hated) but got me home from Newcastle to Penrith so no need for radio, injector's, fuel pump, turned everything off i could think of and lucky gas was old system so only was sucking it like a carby (venturi)..I just jammed the hose at the front of the alternator and turned it on flat out, started the car and hoped for the best, well i was lucky as it must have flushed the mud and crap out and the light went off and started working again, never any issue with it for a further 12 months till I sold it.............Dont think cooling will be an issue with what you have done... Cheeers steve
