Also if you mount recovery points to the chassis at the rear when you put a strap on them they will contact the rear bumper which is plastic and will end up getting damaged, I like Hutch's idea if your saving the pennys, but for resale I don't think you will find many Prados without a towbar and it may help at that time.

See ya on the tracks, Richo.

        RAM Mount for iPad

I have been looking for a way to mount the iPad so I can use it for navigation (VMS and HEMA maps) and to manage audiobooks and music. The best option I've found so far seemed to be the RAM mount system so I ordered this from their Aus website and 2 working days later it was waiting at the post office for me. 5 minutes to install. Jury still out on how much movement/vibration there will be off road but so far looks good.

Mounts directly onto the seat bolt on passenger side

Have you tried this out off road yet?
I used the windscreen RAM mount with my iPad while I was in the US. It was great on-road but fell off twice off-road.
            Cheers, Leon

              Hi Leon,
Not really off road yet but spent some time on rough dirt roads today and it went well. Gets up a little vibration but quite stable.

Last week got the following from Black Widow:
                - Drawer system with cargo barrier, shelf, centre divider, water tank and extension table
                - 2200mm roof rack
                - Awning with Fred's Arm
                - Sand Flag
Still have to wire in the water tank. Will add photos when I get back home next week.

Powerful 4x4 side step/sliders installed today by TJM. Chose these after a lot of searching - they have 3 chassis mounting points, claim to be able to be used with Hi-lift jack and are shaped to fit higher on on the truck than others I've seen giving extra clearance and maintaining good protection and they come in black :-)

Remains to be seen how they go in the wild. Will add photos when I get the chance.

Also wired in the BW water tank pump yesterday with Narva cig plug with built in switch.

Do you know if their side rails/brush bars will fit an ARB bar?

                        Roof rack and awning

Finally had the chance to get out and take some pics of the recent mods:

Black Widow roof rack with awning and Fred's Arm:

Fred's Arm allows awning to be switched to rear of the vehicle:

I considered the FoxWing and Supa Wing options but the single awning with the ability to switch it around easily to the rear looked sturdier and easier to setup and put away. I also looked at other awnings because BW is about the most expensive one out there but it is well designed, made of high quality canvas and fittings and is very easy to use.

...more to follow (limit of 4 images per post)

                          Drawer system

Also added Black Widow drawer system including cargo barrier, fridge slide (seen below with ARB 47L fridge/freezer mounted), centre divider, top shelf and 57L water tank:

I chose the BW water tank option because it is easily mounted (and removed) as it is held in place by two ratchet straps hooked into a mounting plate that has 4 bolts that screw directly into the drawer top. It takes less than a minute to take the tank out and another minute to take the mounting plate out if a flat surface is required. Also, because it's shaped to fit the angle of the cargo barrier, it does not take up much more room than a 25L jerry can. It comes with a built in pump that I have wired up with 3mm cable to cig plug with built in fuse and switch. I now just have to work out if/how/where to mount the hose - currently just coiled up next to the tank - will leave it for a few trips to try out a few temporary options.

                              more inside

Also added Sandgrabba floor mats (to keep the crap off the carpets) and an MSA seat organiser (to keep most of the crap out of the centre console):
