Wired to come on in reverse gear but also switched to allow permanently on.

Finally had the chance to get out and take some pics of the recent mods:

Black Widow roof rack with awning and Fred's Arm:



Fred's Arm allows awning to be switched to rear of the vehicle:







I considered the FoxWing and Supa Wing options but the single awning with the ability to switch it around easily to the rear looked sturdier and easier to setup and put away. I also looked at other awnings because BW is about the most expensive one out there but it is well designed, made of high quality canvas and fittings and is very easy to use.

I'm not familiar with these things. At the risk of sounding stupid, why is half of it black? I assumed it would be a mirror but that doesn't appear to be the case.

Hi Mike,
The mirror is highly reflective glass with black background so it acts like a mirror from normal driver's view.

RoadSafe front recovery points installed. Finally ready for the GTG2012
Doing the Great Ocean Road tomorrow. No off road but should be time for some shots of the new gear.

Replaced fridge power socket in rear panel. Original was flush mounted in wall which meant the plug went in horizontally...broke one plug and general PITA when packing stuff down the side. Replaced with Narva socket

mounted vertically.

I don't think so as it is designed specifically to mount to the BW rack but you may be able to get brackets to fit. Worth a call to BlackWidow for their advice.

So far pretty happy. Tyredog survived mud, water, dirt, rocks, vibrations, high pressure hose car wash without a hitch.

What? You mean you've already washed your Prado after today's run LOL. I'm going to wear my mud as a badge of honour for the next 2 weeks LOL. Most 4WDs around my neck of the woods wouldn't know what mud was and never will.

How accurate is the TPMS compared to a manual gauge?
