Very nice! Does it still use the same 3RZ-FE 2.7L i4 of the 1996-2002 90 series or does it use the newer VVT-i 2TR-FE 2.7L i4?

Can you tell us more about your transfer case modification? Is it now a part time 4WD? Did you change the whole transfer case or just the linkage/shifters?

      Hey Williade!!

Yes, is the same 3RZ FE 2.7 L I4 engine with mods described above!! It`s a really really good engine, good economy. Check this link and read the first column:

      http://www.lcool.org/technical/90_se...ets/specs.html

Here, the 90 series came with Part Time transfer case with ADD drivetrain. In fact, I can put manual hubs if I want to.

So, for better understanding about the Twin Stick transfer case, check the following link:

      http://www.4x4wire.com/toyota/tech/twin_stick/

The idea of the 2 levers is to separate 2 transfer functions:

      - Balance of power
      - Coupling strength to the front driveshaft

This system mimics the old Nissan Patrol 3 speeds.

Activating one of the levers, change the relation of the transfer and have the "extra strength" but without coupling or not full lock the front drive shaft. With the other lever choose to full lock or not, the front drive shaft. Excuse my explanation but it is not easy to explain; sorry for my english too!!

This modification also protects the transfer of stress when you need it on wet pavement, hard floor steep climbs, etc. And of course gives you the advantage when you have a front ARB.

      Cheers

So its a Part-time 4WD and has free wheeling hubs (ADD)? I wonder what else is different between current model 90s and the original series 1 and series 2 90s.

I wonder if parts from late model 90s could be used on earlier models to convert them to Part-time 4wd. Maybe the steering knuckles/hubs could be transplanted. If it could be done, I'd import the necessary parts and get rid of the ADD and convert it to manual locking hubs.

Yes, is a Part Time 4wd with ADD sistem ( Automatic Disconnecting Differential ), no manual hubs. But, I can put manual hub if I want to and maybe a future mod to do!! With ADD, the front drive is turning all the time.

Manual hubs have more maintenance. Can disengage the frontdrive when you don't needed, more life to all components. If you break a CV in off road, unlock and go home. 3" or a little more front lift without many problems. However, I never read broken CV tips with ADD ( no manual hubs ).

The biggest difference: Prado 95 there and here are Full Time with ADD.
Prado 90 here are Part Time with ADD no manual hubs.

You can convert your Prado 95 series in to a Part Time. I think you need the transfer case of a 4Runner 1996 to 2002 ( they have the 5VZ engine too and practically the same truck ) and all the parts of a Tacoma 1995 to 2000 with manual hubs. It's not so difficult to get those parts in USA.

I have some links to do the manual hub conversion.

          Cheers

Yeah they're a great size, I'm sure you'll enjoy them!

So you've had the LR upper arms for a while, what was the plan with them? Are you planning for more lift?

Yeah, the perfect size for our Prados I think.

I`m gonna install the LR UCA`s with manual hubs in the short term. I have a tacoma 1998 manual hubs ( The Aisin hub locks, manual locking spindles and manual cv joints ) where I am now in the process of cleaning and maintenance. One of the manual outer cv's have a strange movement. I have to check it out too!!

More lift on front? Maybe. I'm think to put another OME 5mm trim Packer ( already have one on each spring ) on front to gain a litle more lift. Two 5mm trim packer on each side, the front win 2 cm high ( almost an inch ) I think. However I'm still deciding to put the second trim.
