  • Looks great Matt.

I'm a little confused though. You have spacers in the rear and spacers in the front - why not just get the correctly rated springs?

Did your front ride height settle very much Andrew ? I am pretty happy with the height gain, 6mm spacer resulted in a 39mm initial lift, it will settle I think ?

Interesting to see the difference in these two photos -

What's the CV angles like, is there much difference.

        • 1. Madkore - I guess two parts to this answer for your question, first I thought a 40mm lift would have been ok. But then I encountered sag in the springs and also we bought a camper, so the requirements changed. The spacers are not pricey and will keep me happy for a while until I decide on the new spring rates I need front and back. Currently have 260 lb/in Tough Dog mediums in the back. I think they will get replaced by 320 lb/in rated OME 896. As I plan to fit a winch eventually, the front Tough Dog mediums that are 370mm long and rated at 800 lb/in will be replaced by something about 20 or 30mm taller, with the same rate or Little softer. Things evolve in my shed

          2. Brains - Na everything is zen in the CV department, now it's settled down. Even at the inital 815mm it was not to harsh. All good mate

          • Bloody jockey wheel..

Had some fun and games this morning when my bloody jockey wheel died while I was trying to wheel my camper back into the shed. 200km later and a quick visit to BCF and home again, everything's good. It even wheels heaps better on the concrete floor.

            Bugger..

            Nice & new...

                  • Interesting little problem sorted...

I drove the Prado to the mower shop and back this morning and noticed it was abit gutless in the acceleration department. I checked the Steinbauer fine setting at the servo and got my son to rev it up etc while I checked everything. Something I wasn't sure about, do I rang Steinbauer HQ. Yep, even on Australia Day the team answered my phone call !

On their advice I checked all the connections and tried a few tests. I found the Toyota cruise control not indicating on the dash. After checking all the connections, fuses and the accelerator connection to the Toyota harness. There must have been a glitch with the factory ECM because now the cruise is working fine and the doughy acceleration is gone.

I went to my test road and did three identical runs. First with the SB disconnected and I felt like it did first thing his morning. Peaking at 8.9psi of boost in second gear, up my hill. Then connected the SB set at position 3 and did the same run and got 11.5psi of boost in second gear, up my hill. Finally I reset it to position 4 and got a nice 12.8psi in second gear up my hill. I'm confident I've sorted the problem now and will monitor it. I'm happy this is my only issues in 21,000km of using the SB.

Thanks again Steinbauer for the friendly support on a public holiday !

                        • Fresh new ECM update completed. SB on 4 and has been done for a day, so I guess the ECM is relearning stuff. Strangely, I reckon this update has reduced the highest boost pressure available (electronic wastegate setting) to 9.7psi. The previous limit seemed to be about a maximum of 12.8psi. I'm thinking from my seat of the pants testing on my test road, it's pulling harder than it did before (in the wet it was throwing heap of stones off the front tyres a lot under acceleration) and with less boost. I guess I won't know how it really is until after a thousand or so Kms.

The flutter has gone and its revving comfortably between gears, so happy.

From the photo's you will see that I glue insertion rubber under the tray and the side that mounts to the inner guard wall. This is to act as a vibration absorber and since this new truck is diesel, I deemed it more necessary that ever before to follow this practice.
