Gday all.

The tough dogs on the truck are slowly coming to the end of a pretty short life (about 50,000km). I have spoken to Out of Town 4WD and they have quoted me Nitrochrager Sports for the front and rear. Can anyone englighten me on the performance / ride quality / reaction on rough surfaces, that the Nitro Sports display in a 150 ?

Matt Ive put them on my new 150 but was worried as in the old 120 I think they were a little firm.

So far so good on the 150 though, not many rough road k's to comment on longevitity but around town, gravel roads and sand they've felt great.

Weight plays a part obviously and I'm running steel bar and dual batt up front and just the empty waeco in the back daily but I'm happy.

For those interested, the ARB deluxe bar fog lights globes are 55watt H3. Just changed out a blown bulb and did some temporary repairs to the 'who cares it ain't my car' ARB dealer wiring effort. After LED upgrading the indicators and modifying the wiring with Deutsch plugs, twin core and spiral wrap; I'm thinking the next upgrade will be LED globes into the fog lamps and upgraded wiring to suit.

Do you know if they are a direct swap to the ARB fog lights? Might be something when I smash another one.

Changed out rear shocks and the front strut assemblies today. Lucky I went with fresh front struts, as both lower bushes on the tough dogs were buggered. Measurements settled down at 805mm front and 850mm rear. Front springs settled about 15mm in the first few hours of driving. I've retorqued the lower strut mount bushes twice, I'll do them again tomorrow.

Back of car is loaded with 40litre Engel and full drawer of recovery gear and tools.

The tough dog is total garbage. Failed the rears completely, I reckon they died about 25,000km work. The front shocks are still ok at 40,000km and the front springs were decent, but way under rated in terms of coil strength, for the 150. I can't now understand why the hell any supplier sells 660in/lb coils for the front of a 150. These rating coils were the same pressure I ran in my last V6 120. The bilstens are brilliant as usual. Hey that reminds me, I'm going to retorque the lower shock mount bolts again, after I write this. It's vital they are checked three or four times after you fit front struts. Also the tough dog lower mount bushes died at 40,000km as well. Go the Kings and Bilsteins !!

That lower strut looks bent too, or is it an illusion caused by the crappy welding and camera angle?

After a week or so of the new Kings and Bistein, NEVER EVER BUY TOUGH DOG. Just sit in the shed and hit yourself with a hammer and that wont hurt as much as owning Tough Dog rubbish....
