First tank gone. 1000km for just under 100 litres of diesel and about $150. The old V6 used about 180 litres for the same distance !. Looks like I am saving about $70 each time i refill the new truck, compared to the old girl. I guess this will change once the roofrack, awning and the lift kit go in; but I really don't care as the economy is amazing me so far

Electric brake controller goes in next Saturday and lift kit early the following week hopefully...

Oh yeah, nearly forgot. Found a great deal on a Lifestyle 360i camper trailer over at myswag.com. Have placed a deposit on the camper and going to see it up in Queensland in a few weeks. If it's all good, I will be buying it and bringing it home.

Had a nice quite morning without any kids at home, so I decided to install my second battery tray. This is the second time I have installed a auxiliary tray in a Prado and since the first install was a success; just copied the install I did in the old 120 series GXL. From the photo's you will see that I glue insertion rubber under the tray and the side that mounts to the inner guard wall. This is to act as a vibration absorber and since this new truck is diesel, I deemed it more necessary that ever before to follow this practice.

All finished, ready for a battery to go in


Pretty easy task, just need to be carefull you don't break the inner guard clips (I did and yes, had spares in my toolbox.. same as the 120 series guard clips/plugs). Take your time and it is a very easy and rewarding DIY job to do in the shed at home..

Hi Matt
Enjoying the build up so far.
The battery tray looks nice and solid, is there some way that the bolt heads are covered?
I am guessing that more insertion rubber installs to recess them below.
Just spotted the tray on EB. so answered my own Q.
What battery are you planning on using?

Yeah there is a think insertion rubber insert (about 10mm) that goes in under the battery, to stop the rubbing against the mounting bolt heads. Going for maybe a full river deep cycle, will have to see what the money fairy says..... Build is progressing pretty quickly so far, electric brake controller and hopefully Anderson plug next Saturday, followed by new lifted suspension early before easter !!

Then we pick up the Lifestyle camper...... and that's another build up story all on it's own, that will be on myswag.com
