Ordered some new tyres for the Prado last week. My chosen choice was BFG KM2 in a 265, 70 r17. Had no luck getting them through stores here in W.A. , so Ebay it was. Got onto a company in the east called Don Cornell's Tyres 02 9502 4666. The best price I could get here was $440ea (with no stock available), scored them from Don for $320ea including free freight to WA. Happy Days.
Now off to Perth on Fiday (works out well, cos Im going there anyway)to collect and have them fitted. The local tyre guy is going to fit them up for $100, so still in front.
Also picked up a 1kva Kipor genset, 4 stroke from Bunnings today. from all reports they are not a bad bit of kit for the amount of use Im going to give it. Will drag it out of the box over the weekend, juice it up and find something to put a bit of load on it
Bit of an update. Finally left Dongara to continue our journey around OZ . Left Dongara on the 8th April and headed for Denham. We had an overnight stop at 40 mile pool, Murchison river. Great spot for an overnighter, would be nice to see some more water in the river tho. The following morning we headed off to Denham for a weeks stay. Whilst there we managed to fit in the kids home schooling (bloody stress full that is!!), Monkey Mia (kids where lucky enough to be chosen to feed the dolphins), fishing from the town jetty (hooked a few squid, couple of lemon sharks and a nice big ray that killed my reel), went up to Cape Francois (Francois Peron National Park), checked out Shell beach, Eagle Bluff, the Aquarium and various other visits around the area.
We are now in Carnarvon (have been for a week) and set off for Coral Bay tomorrow for 4 nights and Exmouth for a week after that (anyone recommend a good fishing charter??).
Carnarvon certainly has changed sine I was here last, about 13 years ago. It's really come ahead in leaps n bounds. We went out to Point Quobba and the Blowholes yesterday. Checked out the old lighthouse and payed visits to the HMAS Sydney memorial and Quobba station.
Also visited the Space museum in town, one mile jetty and the old jetty train museum. Also did some more of that dreadful home schooling stuff
