Heya Chivers580,
Both have been excellent, I have been dealing with Steve who is one of the owners and he has been great to deal with. In terms of the quality of the install everything appears to be spot on. I had some specifics that I wanted for the wiring so I spoke directly with the workshop supervisor and he said he would do it himself.
The other big job they still need to do is fit the snorkel and that is probably the one I am the most nervous about. Steve was telling me that they file down all of the cut edges, remove the cuttings and rust proof all cut areas.
Cheers
Dave

Hi Brains,
Thanks for the heads up, no I haven't changed it over and I assume that TJM wouldn't have either. I'll have a look at that to make the change.
How did you test to make sure the link was working? I see that the note says that the LED will glow is this good enough to know that the link works?
Cheers
Dave

Minor update:
The tint for the front window's has now been done to bring them up to darkest legal. I also fitted the Alternator boost diode this arvo and the voltage has jumped into the low 14's so I will see how that goes once the motor is warm.
Took it for a spin down Mandurah way on Sunday with a couple mates other 4wd's, over all it went very well and we didn't get bogged which was good. Lowered the tyre pressures to 18 psi and didn't touch them after that, I also ran without the centre diff lock on and the Traction & Stability turned off. The only two issue I had was bottoming out the undercarriage when following existing tracks and the other was the Tranny temp on the scan gauge came up into the lower 120 degree range.

Still waiting on the snorkel and winch to arrive before the front end can be finished off.
Cheers

Hi All,
A bit more of an update with the my prado.
The Outback drawers are now fitted with an MSA drop slider. Initially I was going to only use a fridge slider however after the weekend away I am happy I went with the drop slider. The other half who is pretty short can easily gain access to the fridge at anytime now.

Also the Tigerz 12,000lb winch is now fitted, the control box is behind the bar so that it all looks a lot neater. I can easily gain access to both the engage/disengage knob and to the socket for the remotes. We gave it a test run to wind the rope on under tension, I pulled my mates patrol up a slight hill. It all went fine, it is a little hard to pull the rope off the spool so we end up winding it out with the motor.

Also, the Howling moon rooftop tent arrived so that is now on. We used it over the weekend when it was probably close to 2 or 3 degrees and it was awesome!!!! Pretty easy to setup and pack away, as we are doing it more we are starting to develop a system. Fully loaded on the weekend with the tent we ran at 11.2L/100km for the trip. This is about 1L/100km higher than without the tent, also the fuel usage was affected a lot more with speed than without the tent.
The Tracklander roof rack is mint, didn't move at all and had no flex. With the tent fitted I have heaps of room in front of the tent for wood, gas bottles etc.

So we are getting closer to being completed, the snorkel is going on tomorrow and then it is just a case of working out what suspension to run. At this stage I am looking at Tough Dog. The hook on the winch is enormous so I am looking at what options there are to change it out with a smaller hook. I guess I just need to be careful of load ratings.
Also still to do it make a PVC water tank for the rear, a sand flag which will bolt up to the roof rack and a gas bottle holder for the roof rack.
Cheers

We also headed down south for the weekend, did some exploring and hit some awesome tracks are a couple of photo's. End up snatching a brand new Ford Ranger out that was upto the chassis on the beach. I gathering it was a company car because he wasn't to fazed about where we snatched it from.

A bit of an update on the build thread, I have now fitted a Safari snorkel and the Tough dog suspension. I gained 35mm in the front end and 50mm in the rear, I went with Hard front and Medium rear however I still need to check that the front springs are actually hard because the front end feels a little soft.
Next on the list is to install the diff breathers and come up with a strategy for storing water infront of the hitch.
Cheers
Dave

How do these attach to the synthetic winch cable? Is it something you can do yourself?Originally posted by rwo View PostCheck out the Factor 55 Prolink for a replacement winch hook. More than strong enough, looks awesome and saves having to wrap the rope across the bar when not in use, comes at a price though.

Did you mount the control box to the right of the winch on the clutch side? I have the same winch and that's what I was going to do. I had to get the cables extended on my control box to do it though and the auto sparky has left some of the cable core exposed. Still haven't gotten around to sealing it, was going to try and cover the exposed bits with heatshrink tubing.Originally posted by vscorsa View PostAlso the Tigerz 12,000lb winch is now fitted, the control box is behind the bar so that it all looks a lot neater. Like the tent!

It looks like they attach the same way as you existing hook... though the eye loop formed at the end of the rope and you simply insert the pin through that loop. Looks cool but very pricey.
