Also, are the Cooper AT3 "light truck" construction (LT), and, if you don't mind, how much each, fitted and balanced?

I have done nearly 75,000lm on the original Grandtrecks, and am almost ready to replace them...we have been mainly up the beach (fraser Island, Bribie Island, Moreton Island etc), and the Grandtreck AT20 265/65/17 have actually been excellent....but we soon hope to go outback and up the cape again (but mostly we drive on the highway when not on holidays, so we want an AT tyre)....

    well done
    Thanks downunder,

What is the current asking price for the Cooper AT3 265/65/17 downunder your way if you don't mind me asking?

    kind regards

I believe the price is about $360 per tyre, but I bought them as a complete set of tyres and rims

out of interest, what kind of cost was the manual prado switch panel and kakadu diff lock switch?

I bought these from Toyota Australia and the panel was about $60 dollars and the diff switch was about $90, if I was buying them again I would get them from O/S for half the cost.

One of the things i did not like about the GX over the GXL was the lack of "Bling", my main consern was the mat black front grille. So i brought a chrome/black one from ebay japan, it is different to the GXL one in australia in that it is metalic black and chrome. It now makes the front alot look better in my opinion anyway.

sooner (rather than later) you will need new shocks on the Prado...unfortunately, so keep this in mind also. The stock shockies seem to last somewhere between 10,000 and 50,000km before the family say, "hey dad, why is the car jumping like a kangaroo"...talk about "rock and roll"...and no evidence of a shock leaking etc, they just plain don't last unfortunately....I am trying for a warranty claim...(only so I can keep some new toyota shocks just as spares), but really, I will be replacing them very soon, I'm not sure with what just yet.....start looking for specials on shocks now

The ride felt like this already from new, i am thinking of getting the bull bar next and then go for the suspension upgrade that way it will be set correct with most of the weight. Just the funds issue at the moment.

I am definately going for the ultimate suspension again, it was sensational on my Hilux and every person i know who has their suspension says it is the best, so i think it is a safe choice.

How do you find the Cooper AT3's on the bitumen now you have had them for a while?

They are great in dry and wet, I have not noticed any bad traits. I can say they are slightly noisier than the standard buy only slightly. I can highly recommend them and so far they have been great off road, still to try them in a lot of mud.

Thankyou for that, I am likely going to get a set of Cooper AT3 265/65/17 tyres.

Another question if I may please...is the safari snorkel secured to the "A" pillar with screws, or a small bracket that clips under the rubber door trim?

The snorkel has a bracket that is screwed to the pillar on the outside, this is the standard safari attachment.

I have been searching high and low for a pic of a white 150 with a colour coded TJM bar, have you got a photo you could share?

                          Thanks

Hi Downunder, in your first post your sidesteps appear to stick out a fair bit. Is that just an illusion from the angle of the photo? Just wondering coz I've just purchased the ARB ones and they'll be going straight back if they look odd.

                            Cheers

Hi Dave, I was also thinking of getting a 8" stereo on my GX for a long time now, you mentioned that the fit of stereo is other peoples build, if possible can you please point me to the builds you used has a reference. and for the reverse camera, did you run a new wiring all the way from back door to the stereo or tapped into any existing factory wiring in the back door.

                              Thank you,
                              Randhir
