Well here my shot of the monster hole. Gotta say we were all a bit sweaty in the palms when the big hole-saw came out but all was well in the end.

I hope I left you enough liner clips guys!

Thanks again for tech day Ian and Dan...

Robert, I've attached a link below. The one I used was SH2.5 which was bought from Bunnings.
As you can see from the photos I just sprayed it with some black enamel ad inserted it between the silver trim and the dash. There are no screws needed as the weight of the mike is quite light so it does not move at all.

This was a great idea because mounting doesn't involve drilling or adhesives. It's just a 2 second operation that involves sticking it between the silver panel and the dash surround. Once trimmed and shaped, it was painted and put in place. It's been there for a week now and hasn't moved one bit.
    Gramps ,
Do you have a link to the bracket you used and some more details please, as this would solve mounitng my mobile phone cradle.
Did you end up screwing it ont he inside of the trim to stop any vibrations?
    Cheers

I definitely had the shakes when I first started drilling! A good days work after all! I managed to get the new spotties & wiring loom in and also got the breathers done. The GTG list is finally shrinking!

    Snorkel Time

Well, I can add myself to the Safari brigade.

Spent the day with Iantz, D4D, Steve (BIL of D4D) and Big Trev installing a couple of Safari snorkels and a Tigerz 11 version which didn't seem too dissimilar. A bit of trepidation when starting out, but once that 1st hole is drilled there's no turning back. Forgot to take a shot of that monster hole but at 95mm, she's big alright...

Thanks guys for the company and help.

It's a bit hit & miss with the price of 2nd hand soverign bars. I saw 1 go for just over $800 on ebay once, but they've also gone for $300 - $400. Throw in the radiator plate & that might help me get a bit more. I hope to get close to new price for the cradle as it's been sitting in the box in the shed untouched. Might try and get some photos of it tomorrow & post it up to see if there's any interest.

    Just a wee bit excited.

A Safari Snorkel to be installed soon (hopefully before the GTG) and due to the generosity of a fellow PP member, a new steel winch bar. Add to those, MLC's rear bar when he decides to upgrade, and I will be one happy chappy. Guess that'll mean an upgrade to the springs to handle the extra weight at some stage.

Stay tuned in the for sale section for a brand new in the box soverign bar winch cradle. The AMTS radiator plate will go with the bar when I sell that. I'll post that on here and gumtree at a later date.

    winch cradle now sold

Wow, I was mainly using this build thread so I could keep track of what I had done to my Prado and how I accomplished it. I didn't think so many people would take a squiz as well.

I hope my write up's have been able to help others when they have set out to add that little bit extra to their rig.
Cheers guys for taking the time to read my build up.

    Now, what to do next?

    Daniel
