Dean's 97' Toyota Prado 90

it started when i took over my late mom's (R.I.P) 97' Prado 90 1KZ-TE, its been in the the family's garage parked for 2 yrs plus...fyi never ever cranked up during those time. Had to buy new battery and poured whatever engine oil avail in the garage...drove about 8km to my friend's workshop...mind you the brakes were screeching liake a mad banshee.

it turns out that the right rear disc was missing a brake pad!!!! Even the caliper was nearly done for!!!! so had to fork out 1 pair of new rotors.

so i ask my mech to do full oil/lub change....but all the gremlins came out to play that month

after new oil/lubs my mech tested the car....but the prado was stuck on Hi 4WD....so had to jack up the rig again...
we tought it was the rear diff so opened it up








everything looks alright...so my mech rebuild it using Cusco lubs

we drove the prado again n it was still stuck on Hi gears. So my mech told me it might be the transfer case !!!! so we lifted the prado again...drain the transfer case and we could see water floating in the oil pan......
he opened the transfer case and to our horror

muddddddddddddd!!!!!!!

and after further dismantling



we found the culprit

we contact the local Toyota agent n ask to quote for the broken plate n was A$1268!!!! just for that plate alone bearings n pins not incuded

also my mech told me most of the inner parts need to be replaced as some were rusted stucked!!! $$$$$$$

in the end my mech sourced me a 2nd hand complete transfer case from a neighbouring country for A$1010...and 48hrs later it was fitted

while waiting for my rig being fixed, i found a set of 16 x8 Inch 6 Stud rims from ebay.com.au

the mech called n told me the Prado's steering rack was leaking, so i bought the repair kit the local agent and a bush kit from ebay.com.au
