  • Hoops' Bix

Hi everyone, I've been lurking on this site for a few years now but have never quite got around to adding my "rig build up".
Prado Point has provided me with many great ideas (eg building cargo drawers), has been a source of information (eg how to install an air compressor) and overall inspiring (all of your rig build ups). I guess I never thought my rig (Bix - as my wife affectionately calls her) was anything different to the standard stuff or anything particularly special but recently I decided to sell it, and during the course of the sale, I realised how much I loved it and will miss it. I don't have many photos of the transformation from when she was new but here's a few of the end result. Thanks to all of the contributors to this site who have passively helped me heaps, during this exercise.

I also fitted a GME Remote mic radio in the dash. Fixed to the Aircond duct in front of the ashtray. The plug for the mike was mounted inderneath the ashtray out of sight so when city driving I unplugged the mic leaving nothing to be seen.

The radio is the red box.
Thanks to PPers for the info on how to dismantle the dash board

I ordered it new in 2009 with "OPTION PACK 1" which includes; Front Side Airbags & Curtain Shield Airbags Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) Traction Control (TRC). I don't hear about it much so it must be a rarity?

All in all I fitted the following after market extras:
ARB Delux bull bar - colour coded
          Lightforce Spotlights
Dual Battery with Redarc Smart Solenoid
          ARB Air-compressor under bonnet
          Fire Extinguisher
          GME 3340 CB radio
          Cargo Drawers (built them myself)
          Cargo Barrier
240v Inverter Additional Power outlets for fridge/lights in the rear
Oldman Emu Nitrocharger sport shockers and springs
          Cooper AT3 LT265/70/17 tyres
          Hayman Reece towbar
Rhino Pioneer alloy tray up top and also had a set of Thule crossbars
For camping I added a Rhino luggage bag on top of the tray + 2nd spare Oztent and a chainsaw.
Also had a MSA dirty gear bag hanging off the back.
