Can you take a photo of how they have mounted them to the chassis/bullbar? I know you have an ARB bar, just interested to see which mounting holes they have used.

Thanks Sol, I can see you don't have 2 bolts at the top end of your bullbar mount so nothing to foul either of the top holes on the recovery point. I've had Roadsafe re-designing those points so we can fit them to a TJM T13 bar on a KDSS equipped 150 (my Kaka has been the guinea pig), the fitment issue has been covered in the 150 recovery point threads.

Hey Sol, it might just be my really bad eyes, but in the last pics of your recovery points, is the bolt stamped 4.6 as its rating?

Im pretty sure they should be atleast 8.8 minimum, ideally 12.9.

I do know one of the gurus on here will correct me if im wrong! :-)
                Geoff

Im not Bogged - I've just lost traction. . . . . and now I'm showing the wife why I bought those Maxtrax, and the tyre deflator, and the compressor, and the bullbar, and the winch, and a lot of other goodies I've hidden in the Prado

                • Geoffury it's says 5000kg so good for 5 ton each, 10 ton off both. Nice shorty by the way SOL if I ever get another Prado I think it will be a shorty

Hey Brett, the recovery brackets themselves are fine, i have the same ones, I was concerned about the bolts they have used to attach the recovery points. The stamped numbers on the end head of the bolt are the high tensile rating.

Geoffury Thanks for the heads up. I will have a look on the weekend as I want to jack it up and check the front pads. To be honest I never even looked at them.

                      • Geoff is right, don't use the points until you change the bolts out.

Guys I would like to thank you all for seeing this. The knowledge of you all is great and comforting to know that you can identified potential problems like this.
I am not sure what the bolt heads should have had.
Looks like I am going back to Opposite lock to get them to have a look.

Thanks for the reply. Do you have a rig build? I love the shorty. Screws with so many people when you talk to them about a two door Prado.
My service was not that great I was only a chock for about 8 years. But spent the last 15 years supporting the ADF in their efforts.

                              • Mate, All good ,Yes I have done a bit. I have added a extra oil cooler and a K&N oil filter (Extra) equiv to a Z9. Added gauges ie Trans temp and engine oil pressure, engine oil temp as I like to see something going wrong before it actually happens .Also a 460 Racor fuel filter 10micron with a water bowl as the OE is 2 micron. I change them at 20k now every 40K including the fuel tank . I have fitted a catch can and also a bypass engine oil filter system having moved the engine oil filter to the chassis and it is well protected .A Piranha duel battery system and added extra outlets in the rear for whatever the need .I'm slowly changing my exhaust to 3" with a high flow exhaust only , added 275x65x17 tyres, a GME remote head UHF radio, a caravan braking system a T some thing or rather, Haymen Reese tow bar I can actually see the ball when reversing . My dreams were a long range tank a better suspension as the rocking bugs me at times . but I'm still working towards a snorkel .
Mate thank you for serving .It does not matter in what role we play as we all work together for one goal and that is for this beautiful and great country to be able to do what we do with peace and freedom but we need to look after it and not take it for granted because we will not realize what we had until we have lost it. Cheers Mate God bless Foxy PS I will be following you from now on
