Thanks Madkore. I bought the Kaka that way and Mr Fido likes it that way. I found out from the previous owner that it originally had an ARB bar (Sahara I think) as well as a winch, it had the colour coded bumper cut then (I have seen the photo). Seems someone at the dealership took a shine to all that and swapped it for the TJM bar and no winch as well as the plain plastic TJM inserts, I can't prove it though. The plastic infills are notoriously difficult to paint from all reports as the plastic has a rough texture to it, it seems to flake off and look pretty ordinary if not done just right.

      • Paint the bar man, Its a Kaka after all. You got to show your girl some style eh? Truth be know the black powder coat is harder than any paint sprayed over the top of it and will serve you better in the bush. Cheers

thanks. Im removing the seats, so dont think that would work for me.

It's not the bar we're discussing though, it's the plastic infills between the headlight and bar. I like the powder coated bar, had a color coded one on the 90 series and the bloody thing chipped and got rust. To be fair that was after it got repainted following an altercation with a Barina. The panel shop sent it off to be re-powder coated and painted and it came back the the wrong colour, I made them redo it but I think they just resprayed it themselves.

Besides if I was worried about style I wouldn't have whacked a dirty great snorkel on the side :-).

Probably not, I haven't pulled the seats out to check though. There are a few 150 owners on here that have done it though, should be able to find them in this sub-forum.

            • Geoff without derailing Corine's build the easiest way to do the floor is remove the seats then measure and mark a centreline on the floor. Work out when the edge of the false floor will be and then mark back along the centreline every 100mm. Then go out square and measure the distance from centre until you hit the edges. Where there are curves do more lines. Transcribe these onto your board and as Corine said cut 5mm shorter to allow the carpet to roll over the edge. I routed my board with a 12mm half round as well so the carpet flowed easily. It isn't hard. I think there is a pic or two in my build showing the marks and cut lines. Take it easy and test fit often.

                • Fridge slide, IPF HID upgrade, and diff breather kit all on the way from the wonderful world of eBay. What an awesome time to have a 10% rebate voucher from Paypal, saved some extra $$ on those purchases (no idea how I got that but not complaining). Getting it all installed before the GTG will be interesting to say the least!

                    • It's the genuine Waeco one for the CFX65 DZ and it was $330 incl postage (which was only $1 LOL) less the 10% so PayPal only took $297 from my card. It was the cheapest price I could find for a new one, all the used ones listed are the wrong size.

                      • Good price, I need to put a slide in the Rodeo but I am baulking at the crazy pricing. I was thinking of making one up out of heavy duty drawer runners as others have done very successfully.

                        • Yes I could have gone the DIY route but Mr Fido wasn't keen. That and we are running out of time before the GTG. Lost a weekend of prep as the Kaka was in the workshop getting the dual battery system sorted.

The good thing about the genuine Waeco slide is you can bolt up the fridge through the underside and into the nutserts if you want to leave the fridge in permanently, no straps needed then. It is supplied with straps as well. The seller was Seabreeze Industries in QLD.

                          • Another few mods crossed off the list yesterday.

False floor completed and fridge slide in place :-

Had a few dramas with glue running out just shy of completion of Project Iceberg and a faulty staple gun but a couple of trips to Masters later that was sorted (glue ran out 1st and then the staple gun wouldn't play nice hence 2 trips). The glue around the folds actually held with just the weight of the board resting on it, that Bostik Instant Pro turf glue sets fast. Have put the staples in anyway just to stop the edges from peeling back but could have done without them really.

                            Fridge slide extended :-

Kept it away from the side of the luggage bay to allow for ventilation around the fridge and access to the floor fixing bolts since we won't be leaving the floor in permanently.

IPF HID upgrade kit off eBay seller 95Soarer installed as well. Came with almost everything needed to install the new bulbs, the only thing not supplied was cable ties to keep all the loom wires bundled but I had plenty of those anyway. The kit even came with a small tube of Permatex silicone for securing the ballasts in place, I used the whole tube as there's some largish gaps to fill after putting the ballasts in the housing.

Kit components (you get 2 lots) :-

The new vs the old (left to right) :-

Hopefully you can see the difference in colour temp from the photo, the new bulbs are pretty much the same as the factory high beams and very bright. I opted for 4300K bulbs rather than 6000K ones, this seller does not offer 5000K ones.

For $80 posted I'm pretty happy, time will tell how good or bad these are.

                              • I've seen that thread Andrew but perhaps he has changed his bulb supplier, the holders on mine fit securely into the back of the reflectors with the same type of keyed fitting as the original halogen bulbs. No smoke yet either and I pulled them apart this morning to check on the silicone, everything seems fine. I'll get to try them out properly this week so I guess I'll find out if they are junk then.
