  • Mick's 150 Build

    Hi All,

    New to the forum, but I have been lurking for a little while.

    I had (well, still have) a Toyota 4Runner (take a look at it here) that was fairly built up. However it let me down on the tracks a few times and was very thirsty (V6 Petrol)... So I decided a 150 prado was the way to go.

    So here she is;

    12/2009 150 Series Prado GX
    It came with;

    64,000kms
    Bullbar (I am unsure of brand, did some searching and could not find one that looked like it)
    TJM 9000lb winch
    TAG Towbar

    I got it home and fitted
    9in Hella Spotlights (with HID bulbs)
    Second Battery (AC Delco 830cca - one I had spare, seeing if it fits)

    Photos;

    If someone can tell me what bull bar that is that would be great!

    The Back, ive since removed the plastic bit around the spare.

    Next to my housemates Hilux... It has a few battle scars!

      From what I can make out in your photos it looks like the Tigerz11 bar but they only list it for the 120 series so not sure.

      http://www.tigerz11.com.au/product-c...-03-to-09.html

      Had a look at TJM, ARB, and ECB bars but they don't look quite the same (i.e. different shaped lights in the bar, shape and rake of tube around the headlights, etc).

      I actually like the GX wheels, reckon they would look great in black. It must be a nice upgrade from the 4 Runner!

        Looks like an Ironman Commercial bar to me, minus the plastic bump stops around the uprights either side of centre?

          Could be an MCC bar?

            Mick could you upload a thumbnail link for your 1st pic please, can't enlarge them when the pics are embedded in the post like that.

            Sol I think the lights in Mick's bar aren't rounded off like the MCC one but it's hard to tell from the pics.

              got a few close up photos of the bull bar. I did find a sticker on the back that said OAQ airbag tested... I looked on their website but could not find a bar that looked the same as mine

                I'd guess an ironman bar also.

                Nice rig congrats!

                  small update... I have ordered some parts for the prado...

                  2x HID kits to upgrade the headlights, a UHF and antenna and a shitload of LED bulbs to replace all of the incandescent ones.

                  I am in the process of finding a lift kit for it, and I am planning to order some new wheels and tyres next week...

                    Tyres are now ordered... 265/70/R17 BF Goodrich A/T KO's + 17x8 Black Dynamic wheels (Sunrasia style)

                    I should have them fitted to the vehicle by the end of next week. Can't wait.

                      Installed my UHF this weekend... and made a little bracket to hang my handset (slips in behind the aircon controls so I did not have to molest the dash

                      UHF installed

                      Handset Bracket

                      I later painted the bracket black so its barely visible.

                      Arial installed

                        second battery kit is wired in now...

                        ABR Sidewinder 140A dual battery controller (hidden down beside the starting battery)

                        Second battery installed, wires connected (still needs a bit of cleaning up, I wont bother until I finish connecting accessories to it.

                        I used a generic supercheap battery tray, slightly modified to re-locate the aircon line.

                          What sort of battery is that?, doesn't look like a deep cycle or is it just an aux starting battery

                            Nah its not a deep cycle, its just a big ass starting battery I had lying around.... I plan to replace it with a deep cycle, but for the moment it will do.
