  • Diksta's 150 GXL Prado

    Hi All,

New to the forum,i sold my trusty 100 series back in October and have moved onto a new Prado, i picked up my new Prado late November, and while i have done a few mods to it to make it a bit more user friendly, i still have a long way to go, as usual the mods will depend on Finances, and because we spent xmas in Canada, alot of my wish list is in Canada if you get my meaning.

so far i have added a few basics
    1. MSA rear canvas seats for the Monsters
    2. Sandgrabba Mats
    3. Dual Battery system with a ABR Battery Tray, Red Arc SB12 isolator, a Diode from ABR

I had a DIG options GPS/media unit in mt 100series, and i am looking at adding one to the Prado as well, i was very happy with the unit for the 100.

so that is the start of my rig build up. a long way to go but that is all part of the fun.

    cheers

Hey, where exactly did you put the current distribution/monitor panel?? Looks like an awesome idea for a double batt system!

does anyone know if you can get a single draw unit for the cargo area that enables use of one of the Far Far Back seats (monsters phrase for the seats) without having to remove the seating arrangement?

had full draws in old rig but have been told by SWMBO that i can't do it to the new Prado.

        cheers

Check out Drifta, they custom build drawers and have a couple of different single drawer options and stacked drawers as well.

have booked the Prado in for a bullbar fit up, not going in till april, i decided to go with the Deluxe winch bar from ARB, i like the look of it better than the TJM version, but i did give both a heap of consideration.

                  cheers

In addition to what Paul has posted I am probably going to try and do the same thing. I will remove all the trim and one seat and try and make a fridge base and battery /charger / power box and put a drawer in there too. So you are maybe going to have to come up with your own design and install. I will probably start on mine in two weeks........

well have added the Winch Bar and Lightforce spotties, i will post a pic in a minute but it could be any 150 series here.

i have also got my hands on a Icom IC440N which i will install this weekend

i like the look of these as well, iam thinking of throw ing the pioneer platform rack on the roof.

must say i am very disappointed in the amount of dust that the 150 leaks, for a new car it is pretty poor, and before i get beaten to the punch yes the AC was on recycle and not fresh air, i had the use the Far Far Back seats,(as the kids call them) the other day and was very disappointed to find them covered in dust, removed the cover where the jack is kept, yep it to full of dust, had a look in a few other places and there is dust everywhere.

Nice ride mate. I drive dirt roads everyday and after many toyota 4wds you just learn to live with it. It is frustrating though. You may have another potential issue of dust getting in from the wiring loom for the tow kit not being done correctly so i've read on here.

As for the platform rack, i am also considering this at the moment. that is a very poor quality ad from Rhino on youtube!

Unless you're following a vehicle on dirt tracks, have your vents set to fresh air in (not recirculate). This will pressurise the cabin and help keep the dust out.

                            Hi

I've just bought a Pioneer platform for the Prado based on the legs that fit onto the standard rails, the height is only 10mm higher than the Aero bars. At the Brisbane show they had a 150 with the tray, Foxwing, Hi lift, shovel holder and it all fitted great. I will fit mine next week and put up some photos.

                            Richo.

                              hey All,

been awhile since i posted anything, have completed a few mods, UHF, false floor, added some recovery points, a winch, so have been steady, been busy with work of late so the progress has been slow.

have plans for a single draw unit to attach my drop slide to, i have built a cage to go around the drop slide will post pics when complete

                              cheers
