Well gave the dobinsons lift a baptism today, very happy! A lot less playing bulldozer and dragging my arse! Good fun play today with the Vic Crew and managed to pick up an awning on the way home. Have mounted the Rhino Sunseeker II, just need to set it up tomorrow.

Looks like fun. And my excuse for being awake and on line early this morning was I just got back from seeing Ross Nobel up at Caloundra. Wife had to be back for stuff today so we turned around and drove back, had to let the brain relax for a little while before bed. Well worth seeing if he visits your neck of the woods though don't give him easy fodder!

Awning extension and new swags.



The awning and extension had been used once by the store manager @ Roof rack City, so it was out of the box and I got a bargain, very happy with it.

Still a bit more to do before we head off Thursday avo. Might do some work on the iPad mou t and fridge slide this arvo.

Does the extension roll up with the awning or is separate?

It's in a separate bag with the two poles, and a bag for the two ropes and pegs. You can see some of it standing up at the back of the car in the first photo. I was hoping it would fit between the drawers and the back seats, but a bit too long, will probably strap it to the cargo barrier.

Those drawers are impressive, how you have done them. Pretty smart mate. Did you have access to a CNC router machine or something? And how simple for your runners there. There are some smart people on this site, and I reckon you are one of them, JPH.
You should go into it as a business. CNC routers are expensive though.

Thanks Roo, I'm a cabinetmaker by trade and have a fairly extensive workshop including a CNC. It's definitely changed the way we do business. We made a set for Shan before the trip to Fraser and still have to make a set for blkd4d. There has been a bit of interest shown from a few other members, so with a bit further refinement there may be another pp product on the market.. Thanks for the support Roo.

Hi Josh - loving your set up mate. Saw your awning and extension and thought this might be of interest to you. It's a wind breaker for the side of your awning which will give that little bit of rain protection to the swags in unexpected showers. It was a post here that gave me the idea but I can't remember where now. I picked one up recently, looks good and am only using it for the first time this weekend.

Thanks for the heads up Bendman, I had seen that here but hadn't done anything about it. It might be the finishing piece to me awning set up. We slept in the swags under the awning for eight nights, it was great, especially on Fraser where it was a bit warmer, the awning was awesome and used multiple times a day, quite often set up for lunch as well. The next project will see some led lighting under the Pioneer Platform on the passenger side and rear. The plan is to angle them out to light up under the awning whilst cooking etc. it will just be one less thing to set up and pack up. I've been loving getting out and using the Prado what it was built for, the pin stripes are a fair example. Everyone comments on those...

Good on you Josh! Website needs a big overhaul, been trying to get the cook onto it for the past 18 months! When we will be seeing you on the tracks.. High country recce run?

I have to admit I never though of sleeping under the awning! Use it for shade on the beach etc but that is a great idea.

Between blkd4d and myself we have two Rhino awnings and an extension, two single and a double ARB swags. Some nights we'd have them set up under the awnings only, another night we had all three set up under my awning and extension. While on the road up we'd still set up under the awning, sometimes I'd put the extension on with no poles and angle it down to the ground like a wall, this was just a bit more protection.

So it's been a pretty hectic few weeks, over Easter we decided that we would be going to Fraser, so we managed to get a few jobs finished off. Fitted the suspension, wired up the Lightforce Genesis driving lights, fitted second set of prototype drawers, whipped up a quick ply fridge slide and fitted my custom half cargo barrier from Autosafe. Next sort out some Led lighting, some USB points and replace my poor battered bash plates!







Apart from the tie down straps, this fridge slide cost me $8 for the slide bolt, everything else was offcuts in the factory.. choice!

Josh I wish I could go on that trip but I have to pick up my parents from the airport right in the middle of that weekend!
