Hi Everyone,

Long time lurker, first time posting!

I recently retired my old 120 GX after serving me for nearly 300k kms and stepped into a 2010 150 Diesel Auto.
It has 52000 kms on the clock and appears to be quite well looked after by the previous owner.

It came with a dual battery system which was a massive bonus and the usual bullbar, side steps and tow bar package.


I have had it a week now and the mods have already started.

The second day I owned it I purchased an Ironman 50l fridge. I have been looking into fridges for some time now and while I really wanted an Engel, I couldn't go past the Ironman for value for money. It comes with a 5 year warranty on the compressor and if I can get 5 years out of it, I will be happy. There were mixed reviews on the Ironman fridges but the only way to find out of they were really any good was to try it and see!

It still had the standard road tyres when I received it and they have been replaced with Goodyear Wrangler A/T. I had these on my 120 and couldn't fault them!

Today I had the standard muffler replaced with a straight through item, which IMO has helped it breathe considerably better.

Whilst I was waiting for the muffler to be fitted I went and organised for the suspension to be done in a weeks time.
After reading through a lot of reviews I decided to go with a Tough Dog setup and putting a set of bags under the rear at the same time for when I am towing my boat.

I also like a quality audio system. I ordered a complete Alpine system which includes the latest 'mirror link' headunit,two sets of splits and an amp. All booked in to get installed on the 5th of next month.

Future mods will include:
Chip it power chip
Adding more to the audio system
Great Whites driving lights
Set of drawers in the rear
Roof racks and basket

I am sure other mods will happen and I will be sure to post them here when they happen.

Yep, the snorkel will definately be on the list.

I am going to try and keep it as standard looking on the outside as I wouldn't consider myself a '4wd'er'. I mainly use my car for towing my boat to a lot of remote locations in the NT which involves a lot of driving on formed gravel roads.

2 inch Tough Dog lift installed on Friday. They were meant to install a set of rear bags at the same time but they somehow forgot! Will be heading back tomorrow to organise them to be installed.

Also added a GME TX3100 uhf which I picked up at a good price (free!). I purchased a GME ariel at the Brissy 4x4 show on the weekend and got it all installed within a few hours.

Next on the list is a Tune it chip, snorkel and the stereo install.

GME TX3100 installed. This wasn't my first choice of radio but when it's free you certainly can't complain.

I mounted it here as the previous owner had either a radio or brake controller mounted here and there was already screw holes. I hate putting in new screw holes so it made sense to utilize existing holes.

Snorkel and Tunit Chip were installed on Friday along with a few additions to the stereo. Also had the rear airbags installed that were meant to go in when the lift was installed.

So far the chip has made a significant difference on power. I haven't played with the dial yet and I'm going to start running some tests with fuel consumption when time allows.

It does surge a little bit under load and the occasional 'miss' on idle. It's not a big worry for me but it's something that will need to be sorted out. I am looking at getting it tuned by Tunit and getting some dyno time before I upgrade the turbo.

The stereo system also got some love too, it now consists of

Alpine ICS-X8 Headunit
Alpine Type R front splits
Alpine Type T rear component speakers
2 x Alpine Type T 12" subs
Alpine Type X 4 channel amp powering the front and rears
Alpine Type X 2600w monoblock amp powering the Subs

All work to date has been done by Opposite Lock in Springwood QLD. I cannot fault their service and pricing. The main reason I started dealing with these guys was because they promptly replied to my online enquiry. I work remote for weeks at a time and making a phone call isn't always an option. That secured my business straight away.

All stereo work has been done by Gold Coast Car Sound in Slacks Creek. Again, I cannot fault their service.

Next on the list, new front bar, winch and diff locks!
