  • The Wood Family D4D 120 Starting Point

    Hello everyone,
I am a new member only joining yesterday and I'd like to introduce myself. I am a 47 year old Project Technician working in the Oil and Gas industry for the last 23 years. I am also a W.A. FIRE and RESCUE VOLUNTEER. I have a wonderful Wife and 4 kids, 23, 19 ,12 and 11 that all love 4 Wheel driving. I have just purchase a 2008 GALATIC GREY MICA D4D GXL PRADO with 118250km on the clock two weeks ago, after having a 2007 100 series Landcruiser 4.7 V8, very done up for 4 years (cost way to much in juice to run).
So now I am starting basically with a blank canvas.

    PRADO came with

    Factory Bull Bar
    Side steps
New BFG All Terrain TA's 265/70/17
    Roof Rails
    Dark Tint

    Have so far added

    Lightforce 240 Blitz Spotties
    Factory floor mats
    Sand Grabber rubber mats
    Head Light Protectors
    Bonnet Protector
    LED Interior and Door Lighting
    New Front Disc's and Pads
    Maxtrax
    40 litre Engel Fridge
    ARB recovery kit
    KCI air compressor
Staun Tyre deflators(set for 18 psi)
ARB easy tyre deflators(for going lower in pressure)
    300 Watt invertor
    Massive ARB first aid Kit

    Much more to come....

Took it Offroad the 3rd day we had it on a moderate to hard track and found it handle it very well, though it was lacking in height over rocky ground even with my best efforts at wheel placement. So it looks like a Lift Kit will the first major upgrade I get for it.
Been told I should be able to get 55mm lift from a Tough Dog Kit with Foam Filled shocks, had Tough Dog Ralph's last time and they where Awesome shocks, so I think I'll stay with something I know.

Away at work now and can't wait to get back to driving the PRADO again.

Take care everyone and happy 4 wheel driving.

Have added a photo of my Cruiser and one of the New Prado.

Hey woodsy, welcome to the forum mate and congrats on your purchase, plenty of good info and even better if you get to catch up with fellow ppers, although can prove costly as they always aid in further modding haha! Look forward to seeing the prado transform.

    Cheers

Thanks Mate for the welcome, love the 120 great to drive, it would be great to catch up with a few of you guys.
I am in the 4 wheel dive club of WA, quite a few Prado's in that lot have to see if they are in Prado Point.
I stumbled on to it by accident and glad I did. So much info here can't stop reading it, addicted already.

      Cheers

That was one sweet Landcruiser! Can't wait to see what you do with the Prado!!

Great to see another WA PPer on here.

Don't mind MLC, he has a classic case of WA envy and actually use to be one of us until the Dark Lord took his soul.

Built the Cruiser from the ground up very capable go anywhere 4x4, might have to bring the Mud Terrain BFG's back but will be a while with the AT's brand new.
And yes we love living in Dunsborough, kids get to kids.
Only 3 boys at home now, oldest is 19 so he is looking to buy a Surf 4x4, Prado will be fine for the 4 of us as they are only 11 and 12 years old.
I want to give building a set of draws for in the back a go. But having trouble getting the Dimensions from the forum.

Most people use the Toyota rubber mat as a template when starting the drawers. Otherwise a big piece of brown paper. When I did the 150 fridge base I drew a line down the centre of the floor and made up a grid, bit easier on the 150 because the floor is bare painted steel once the seats are removed.

Just a couple of photos of the my IFS 100 series with the Tough Dog and King springs 75mm lift indicating amount of travel.
Same set up I want for my Prado.
I get Opposite Lock in Jandakot to do most of my work.
Chris, Scott and the boys know what they are doing that's for sure.
