you wont go wrong with a rear air locker 2004, makes you think you should have done it sooner, and also you can take it a whole lot easier on the old girl to get it up to where you want to go. cheers samo

yeah thats the main thing i want samo, to be capable without having the pedal flat to the floor and breaking something. I had a TJ wrangler previously twin locked with all the goodies and once you've had them you wont go back... hopefully just the rear will be eough, i'd say it will be very capable.

It's a very small world or was it's Graz info alert from ebay on PP?? I actually bidded on these drawers too. I also went round to the guys house the night before to make sure all was good, my 47L ARB just squeezed in. I know how the bidding went, quite funny really, still I've a lifestyle rack (similar principle) so I'm happy I was outbid. Still they were very solid, taking two to install and remove. I would have had to have cut of the back end as that little ledge occupied the space where my cargo barrier is....something to consider if you get a C.Barrier!! Good on ya.

Started customizing an old box trailer of mine on the weekend. Plan is to build a hard lid on gas struts to keep water and dust out and also added a kitchen in. Tailgate previously dropped down so made it swing sideways and welded a kitchen on. Will put pics of the hard lid up this weeke d after I weld it all up and bolt it on.

After this will be adding a toolbox on front for a few deep cycle batteries, solar panel to the hard lid, 2 x 59L water tanks underneath with a 12v pressure pump for water and showers and also led lighting throughout as well as 12v sockets wherever I can. I've got a good tent so dont need to put a tent on top. The plan is just to make it easier to be able to hitch it on and go camping leaving it pretty much fully packed apart from clothes and fridge/food.

struts under the kitchen or under the hard lid? plan is to put struts under the hard lid and some locks on top to keep it securely locked up. Will see how the kitchen goes with the weight, its welded on so shouldnt be a problem.

OK wasn't sure what hinges you put on. Looks good. I was going to do a similar fitout for a kitchen since the trailer is an integral part of our camp but in the end decided to build a stand alone bench. Gives us some flexibility in the camp layout and we can leave the food pantry and misc drawers at the back of the trailer.

More done today built the frame and hard lid and rigged up the gas struts. Just tac welded for now tidy up next weekend ready for paint and fit the water tanks etc underneath.

Hinges for hard lid are just heavy duty loose pin door hinges so can knock the hinge out and remove if necessary.

Got the rear air locker and compressor installed at arb today. Can't wait to test it!

Happy days with the locker mate. Nice work with the box trailer, I'm keen on the idea of a trailer purely for all the camping gear without the need for the fold off tent and bed.

Yeah I toy'd with the idea of buying a camper tent to put on top, but i dont need a massive tent and ive got a tent which is big enough for what i need and quick to setup, i just use a 3x3 gazebo for shade and its up in 2 seconds so this box trailer suited my needs more. Will do some more photos this weekend when I rig up the 2 59L water tanks underneath and extend the drawbar. Also bought a big checkerplate tool box for the drawbar to house batteries, gas bottles & tools so that will help with space. Might build a roof rack system for it later on but Ive got a masive rack on the prado so probably not necessary at the moment.

Some more pics. Drawbar extended on the weekend and built a wheel carrier for the spare wheel.



also found a great toolbox at master which I've mounted on the drawbar.

Only problem Samo is that the sharp corners will wear your canvas faster. When I did my canopy I made radiused edges.
