  • Grims 2009 120 GXL

Picked up the Prado a couple of weeks ago now had 161k on the clock, ex mine car.
Looked in good condition, has a roll cage inside, (so no third row) it may get removed but staying for now.
had some slight corrosion on all the underbody and drivers window was smashed at some point and the replacement has different tint! (have to sort this out)

first weekend down to the beach along with my mates hilux

Had a good look over it and got full body rust protection done to it by the guys at Downey st rustproofing Bris, took them 2 days to clean all the mud out as a rubber grommet was missing from a wheel arch (cost $2 at Toyota spares to get another) and had filled up with mud! but the underbody looks great now!

Picked up some rubber mats all round

Fitted a GME uhf and aerial last week and removed some left over cabling from a sat phone, but the have left an extra handy fuse holder and power lines which made the radio install a breeze.

Removed the roof rails and after long consideration fitted a Tigerz11 steel flat roof rack this weekend, I have read a lot about them and took on all the advice I found. I cut off the mesh as I didn't want it and it was so thin anyway, welded on some brackets for the awning that I am fitting this week and painted the whole lot, A big thanks to other users that spent the time to write up the install woes with these racks, it made fitting easy if still a couple of hours.

    Things done!

Bat awning has been fitted with some custom mounts

    heated shower pump system

Rock armour rock slider side steps

air compressor ( in a toolbox) ARB

Water tank, (long ranger 21L !) still to be fitted

    Wish List
DIY rear swing door drop down table (thanks for the instructions!)

    LED light bar
dual batteries (unsure, dont have a fridge yet anyway)
    suspension and lift kit
bullbar and winch or maybe just winch and custom fitting
    air lockers

Hi Grim, good to see another 120 build on here (the 150s are constantly growing in numbers).
For my 2 cents worth, I would definately recommend putting the compressor under the bonnet - You'll need it for air lockers anyway, and you will never leave home without it. Also, I would recommend the 2nd battery as it will make accessorising so much easier, you will have a battery to jump start yourself if needed, and after using a fridge for camping, you will never go back to eskys.

The rear table thread is: http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...ear-door-table and I think my wife is more excited about using ours for the first time than I am!

Thanks Hutch the guys at Downey st were great, worth the extra drive for me (Im on the gold coast)

and Smithy thanks for the warm welcome and for the thread link, might be next weekends project!

Still not sure about the compressor, even if its under the bonnet you need a bag with your air hose somewhere in the car, but your right if I splurge on the air lockers ill need it there anyway!

I keep my hose and fittings (still in the ARB box) under the passenger seat. Out of the way, but easily accessed, if that helps.

this top bolt hole had to be drilled. not sure if anyone else has had to do this?
                      the rest fit on perfect.

Here is some rack pictures of the tigerz11 steel flat rack with the mesh cut off and my custom awning mounts welded on.

there is 2 sleeves welded on that the awning slides into and then is bolted down.
solid and easy to put on / off by myself
