Damn, did they have a sale on?

I imagine that taking the seats out will make a mess of the rear trim.
Well the moulding at the back edge of the "floor" would have to go for starters. Haven't really looked at it myself.

Can't do that in the Altitude as it has a speaker there. Don't know why they thought I needed a speaker so far back in the car, there isn't one on the right hand side which is strange.
That's the subwoofer, play with your stereo settings one day and you'll find out why it's there. I had to turn mine down, when I first got the Kaka it was giving me a headache.

Yes but the sale ended Sunday. I didn't even know the sale was on, just went as a last minute decision to browse.

Subwoofer - Ok that explains why there is only one - thanks. Only had the stereo on once so far.

Is the back trim on the kaka different to the GXL?

I wasn't happy to leave the edges up and open so I made little 'wings' that sit on top of the board and trim up the edges. They are the same height as the original floor trim so access to the jack space is still easy.

You don't have to be a motor trimmer to get a good result. The wings are just 9mm mdf cut to suit the hole and fit into the hard plastic trims. Then carpet is rolled over and glued in place on the trims. I cut the carpet to fit neatly and then used contact adhesive to stick it together. The trims just sit in with some double sided foam tape so can be taken out at any time. Easy to remove to get access the the side panels for running cables etc.

I was going to cut the hard plastic returns at the joint and run the board straight up but that would compromise the fitting of the Tojo trims when the seats go back in. This way it works out fine.

Thanks MJ. No it looks like the trim finishes the same way on mine as in your pics. I think the wings and way you finished off the trim is excellent. Exactly what I was looking for. I hope you haven't got a copyright on that setup. Great job.

It works well and is reasonably easy to do. Looks much better than leaving the edges open and more importantly limits the amount of dust and grit getting past the edges. The are a few holes that go through into the under floor space and under the car so make sure you seal these.

ru_altitude - interested in seeing how your UHF antenna is mounted, i've got an icom unit but yet to purchase a antenna as i'm struggling where to mount it other then off the bonnet with an L bracket but have heard its a pretty tight gap.

su888, no problems. It goes into ARB for the install on the 28th Aug so I will post some photos when I pick it up.

                    Altitude Additions

Got my rig back from ARB tonight. I now have a compressor (CKMA12), towbar with recovery hitch and a TX3540 UHF Radio.
The UHF was going to be mounted under the seat however when I dropped it off I was given some choices. ARB suggested mounting it under the center console, completely hidden with the cable for the remote mic peeking out of the console by the passenger’s side. Picture is a little dark but there is not much to see anyway (it's hidden). I am very happy with the result. Only problem is that as suggested by Fido I can't check it's secured.
I was also going to be getting the antenna installed, but at the last minute decided to ask ARB to hold off as I have ordered a colour coded Deluxe Winch Bar and would prefer it mounted on the bar rather than the side panel. Hey Rick, I think my UHF is mounted in the same location. I haven't pulled the console apart yet to check (UHF was in the Kaka when we bought it) but the mike plug is poking out from under the center console as well. I need to do it at some stage though as I have a newer unit to install.

How much did the compressor and install set you back if you don't mind me asking?

Hi Fido, the compressor was $263, the pump up kit $50, fitting was $181. It wasn't on special but seems to be a little less than on my price list. You might be able to get it cheaper at the 4x4 show. I visited today and ordered a few items.

Oh cr@p, forgot the show was on. Don't know if I can get there as Mr Fido666 is laid up after surgery. Where is it being held?

It's at the Melbourne Show Grounds. Not everything is on sale, you have to know the normal prices otherwise it's easy to get stung.

Forgot to mention my other additions:

OziExplorer GPS Mapping Software, USB GPS Receiver BU-353S and the Hema 4WD Raster Map Collection. Will be installing this on an existing 11.6 inch Samsumg Series 7 Slate. Just need to find a suitable mounting option as it doesn't fit in the Apple iPad holders.

15 meters 5050 white waterproof led strip light.

                              2 x 27W Flood Lights.

Have to wait for ARB to install the dual battery and cable some power to the back and install the roof rack before I can setup the lights.

That's not too far from me but I probably shouldn't go, it would only make me want to spend money I need to pay bills.
