  • SWMBO's 120 D4D 5A Tourer

Well I've finally got a D4D Auto 120 Series Prado...... Or more accurately SWMBO does, but I get to build it up!

Started 4x4 with friends & family touring, on trips & farming way back when, mostly in GQ 'troll's
Once I got my licence, following a few other vehicles, I purchased a TF/ R7 Rodeo diesel as my first 4wd (got water in the air box back before I knew more about it <gasp> )
Dodged a bullet & learned some lessons that day!
Followed that up with a 4.2td GU Troll. Wish I could've kept it, but it was manual (which the wife won't drive) an apparently "too big" for her..... I haven't yet told her the comparison of dimensions between the GU & a 120 Prado.....
    Prado Troll
    Length 4850 5050mm = 200mm Shorter
    Width 1875 1940mm = 65mm Narrower
    Height 1905 1855mm = 50mm Taller!

I'll leave it a few more weeks.... Months..... Hmm, possibly forever now that I think about it, before I enlighten her!!

Anyway, scored a good deal on the new baby.
144km with everything done to it, and new injectors.
ARB Deluxe Steel bar - colour coded Silver Ash (non-winch, so may be for sale/swap if anyone has a winch bar they want to offload)
    Safari Snorkel
Dual batteries with triple battery solenoid setup (debating whether to leave it in or put my autron kit in)
    ERPS (rust system)
& a few other bits and pieces.

Planning on a few bits, already bought a cargo barrier, great whites light bar, inverter & overhead console.
Waiting on lights (Genesis I expect), some rigid dually's to go in the bar, UHF (Icom 400 pro is the plan), and I'll put my GME 4700 series antenna on.
Planning for a rhino pioneer rack, AJ120 sliders with brush bars (removed for SWMBO but installed for trips) and his rear bar when it's available, a bunch of gauges etc, drawer or shelf setup in the back, and e locker setup for front &/or rear (yet to fully decide on this).

Alright, I can hear the complaints, let me see if I can get some pics up!

Looks great mate, I to had a GU, but I'm lucky we still have it so I get choice of what rig to play with. Loving the Prado so far. Oh this might sound strange but the 4.2 manual GU is the wife's and the Prado is mine lol

Top effort mate. Wish I could've kept the troll, did us proud while we had it though, 2 trips to fraser, VHC and a bunch of other smaller trips etc too. They are one tough vehicle.

Yeah we could never get rid of the patrol, spent way too much coin on it and its a tractor off road, but the Prado is lots of fun too and I know you'll enjoy yours.

I thought there was only one SWMBO on PP? ;-)

Nice rig! I'm sure you'll have some fun with it.

I had a Patrol once too or should I say Maverick since it had the Ford badge but sadly it blew up. Followed that with an 80 series which I should have kept then a 95 series and now the 150. Funny thing is the 150 is the only one that's done any real off-road, the rest were more for boat towing and carting big dogs.
