  • Terry's 120 build

My 2008 GXL D4D 120 (no lift). Bought with 110,000kms on it Sept 2013 - now with 119,000

Initial mods were - driving lights and snorkel

Front recovery points - these and following pics taken after spending 3 days on 4x4 driver training so some damage and dust.

Dual battery system and additional rear cargo bay outlets

UHF radio - Navman GPS with reversing camera - Tyredog TPMS

Outback drawers (recovery gear first aid kit - fire extinguisher - EPIRB) - cargo barrier, drop down fridge slide and ARB fridge

After 3 days of doing this

Quite clear it needed better suspension and a lift. Toughdog and 2" lift completed last week.

Should say that I have a few other things on the list including diff breathers, better under car protection and maybe rock sliders. When bank balance recovers. Next big job will be to replace injectors. Within specs currently but feeling a bit nervous.

After 2 months of having the Prado lifted and some more off-road driving remeasured the suspension.

Seems fine to me front sitting at 777mm and rear 820mms. When I hook up the camper the whole rig is level.
