Ok, well it's started. The build up is underway.
The Boys at ARB Maroochydore have begun with the 2013 D4D Kakadu and put on the Safari Snorkel and Sahara Bar with fold up numberplate holder for later when the Warn XP9500 (6hp with synthetic rope) is fitted to it. They have also installed a GME TX3540 which is nice and snug on the side of the dash. I need to find a 'relocation kit for the front camera as it picks up a bit of the bull bar and when I add a light bar it will be next to useless where it sits currently. I know they do them for the 200 series so cant imagine why they wouldn't for the Prado?? would like to put it where the finger is in the below picture. Factory options include Genuine Towbar, Fusion pack, Front window tinting, Electronic rust proofing & under body spray rust proofing. Next up will be a Rhino Pioneer platform, the Traxrax I bought the other week (thanks Craig), side awning, 1225BC-DC from Redarc and that should do for now. Eventually, I will look at Cooper Tires AT3's, Taipan vortex exhaust (3inch stainless) and Steinbauer chip.

    Anyway, that's me for now.

A light bar in that slot will restrict some air to the radiator etc, worth keeping in mind.

Yeah, I thought that too Piggy. I was wanting to move the Camera into the centre of the slot and put the light bar on top as if it were a couple of Spot lights.

If you're getting a pioneer platform, have you considered installing a LED bar underneath as I have? ( check out post#150 on in my Rig Build)

I really like that look. then I guess I could get a huge one. I thought it was illegal though? I was sure the ARB guys said something to that effect??

Orrsom, yes a light bar up on the roof is illegal. For road use. Craig only uses his for:

              A) off road use
              B) toasting things
              C) burning patrons eyes at the Norman
              D) melting bitumen

I think the maximum height is about 1.4m.

Nice build so far by the way.

Hahaha, very good thanks for that. I might look into one for up top then.
I'm guessing its on a separate switch to high beam then. Thanks for the feed back here, glad I stumbled upon this site...

I need to clarify my post. I have just looked at the regs again and the 1400mm height actually only refers to low beam. There is no specification for high beam or driving lights. I think the regs intend for the high beam/low beam to be a unit and extra lights to use the same rules but it doesn't specifically state that in black and white, or blood. So if anyone gets clarification please post it up. More than happy to be corrected. I do know a mate of my son's was cautioned about an LED bar on the roof of his ute but that could have been a result of a failed attitude test too...

At least we can have Cyclops spotties or single lightbars now.

That's wonderful, I guess now all I have to do is find a decent light bar and go from there..

They certainly put it through its paces... cheap too.

Good to see that this is properly clarified that there is no height restriction but I am concerned about the wording which says the front of the vehicle. That wouldn't include the roof? Surely the front is just that end?

I just spoke to the guys at ARB Maroochydore, they were speaking to the dept of transport in Brisbane and it's apparently ok if they are forward facing, he took notes so I will ask him to email the 'transcript'. it say's "7.3.6. Orientation: Towards the front." so I guess towards the front of the roof is ok.
