The ADR makes mention that the light emitted will not cause discomfort whether directly or indirectly through the rear view mirrors. To me this implies that lights can be forward-facing and mounted aft of the rear-view mirrors.

Went to the ARB Maroochydore open day today, had the guys fit up my Rhino platform and awning. I went for the 2.5 x 2.5 metre awning and the pioneer platform is the one with its own legs. They remove the roof rails and give them back to you, another thing now taking up valuable Realestate in my shed...
Last weekend I had a mate who is an auto elect fit up my BCDC 1225 red arc duel battery system and fridge socket. This bus is slowly coming together. Next I think will be the winch and I'm going to remove the 'Toyota' electronic rust proofing as it only has 2 pads?? I think they are more a case of peace of mind for road use only?? I will put on the ERPS 10 pad system.
Anyway, here are a few pics to show it's progress.

Thanks to Craig, The TraxRax have now gone on I didn't realise that I had the first version of Trax and they don't come with the 'Keyhole" in them and are a bit narrower than the new ones. So after a bit of modifying they now fit. looks great too.
I have received my 40" lightbar from Offroad Industries, and purchased a very thin LED strip that goes in behind the number plate...This hooks into the reverse lights and turns night into day... these will be fitted up shortly.

Ok, the light Bar is fitted and just needs to be hooked up. Had a mate do up some 4mm alloy brackets with little clearance so they cant be taken off and have also ordered the security nuts. The first two holes lined up with the screws in the Rhino platform, so I super glued a nut to the top of the plastic clip for the corners and everything's hidden. pretty happy with how this turned out.

Also had the same Fella make a 'Leveling Washer for me. the wings on the Sahara bar tilt up slightly and the UHF ariel sits crooked and as a result wobbled terribly, this has straightened it, fixing the wobble quite a lot.

Not wanting to rain on your single LED parade, but the height is not your only consideration.
From the ADR ruling amts listed, note pt 7.3.2.1 states driving lights must be fitted as two or four.
Not saying I abide by this, because I currently run three spotties, just wanted to point it out.NOW FOR SALE!!! - 2004 Silver GXL 3lt 4spd Auto - ARB Bullbar, Safari Snorkel, Redarc Dual Battery System, Cooper ST MAXX, Dark Tint, IPF900XS spots, Raised Bilstein/Kings Suspension/Firestone Airbags, Autosafe Cargo Barrier, Sandgrabbers, Rola Roof Rack Stuff, Insect Screen, Dust/Wind Deflectors, Sheepskin/Black Duck Seatcovers, GME TX3510, ARB underbonnet compressor, Allied Hammer Rims, ARB UVP, AJ Sliders

Well the lightbar has been hooked up and my, what a difference it makes...
Low Beam.

High Beam only

High Beam plus Light Bar

the pics aren't the best quality from the iPhone, sorry, but it gives you an idea.
I also added the Rod holders yesterday. Channel nut up front and security bolt in the rear into the rear bar, on the inside is a large square washer and nylok nut. This was tricky, I had to tape the nut and washer to the ring spanner and stuff the spanner inside a piece of conduit so it was far enough inside the rear bar, then line it all up and hold the mouth right.
