I think my steering rack is on the way out and I am possibly up for a new one, both the steering arms have approximately 2mm movement, which is noticeable when the car is jacked up. I replaced these arm approximately 16 month ago (30,000km) with Repco items, which I thought would be good quality??? There is noticeable up down movement of the inner part of the rack when I push/ pull on the tire. The rack bushes are Spuerpro and in good condition. The car has done approx 230,000km so I figured the rack has had a fair life.

A bit of an update on the OME shocks I fitted at Christmas (replacing my Bilsteins), I have done about 10,000km on them and whilst the car does handle ok with them, it's a very harsh ride. I originally thought this harness was caused by the rears, as they are the OME 80 series heavy duty (Firm) shocks, I thought they might be too firm for the Prado.
Fulcrum Suspension in Moorooka are able to rebuild Bilstein shocks, they have already done my fronts, which I reinstalled about two weeks ago. The difference was immediately noticeable, and totally transformed the ride which is now much smoother yet still very controlled. So maybe the rears weren’t the problem.
Fulcrum are still redoing my rears and are tweaking the valving to better suit my car which with the rear bar and drawers is a little heavier than most. I found the Bilsteins were originally a little soft, maybe the difference between airbags and springs? Hopefully I will refit them in the next few weeks, I am very interested to feel the difference.[B]2003 V6 Parado Grande.

The cost was about 600-700 (Not Cheap) for rebuilding all four and re-valving the rears. I was in no hurry so left them there for a few weeks, but I think they could turn them around in a week or so.[B]2003 V6 Parado Grande.
