  • Muzz's White GX 150 Build

    Ok so finally parted with my beloved 2002 Pajero Exceed and gone for a shinny new 150 Prado GX! I've gone for a manual this time as I really missed it while I owned the Pajero. I was lucky to pick up a 2012 model with only 17k on the clock and never appears to have gone off the bitumen.

    The mods so far;
    Head unit has been changed to Alpine INAW910R and Alpine HCEC117D, GPS and reverse camera.
    Pirelli Scorpion 265/70R17
    TJM sidesteps powder coated black
    Procomp 7005 17x8 wheels in black
    Robinson and Bilstein 2" lift
    Super fit black denim seal covers all round
    Hayman Reece tow hitchClick image for larger version

    Factory extra of paintwork and interior protection along with electronic paint protection

    The mods to come;
    Roof rack - still combing over this forum trying to decide
    Bullbar - looking at a color coded white ARB deluxe bar
    Winch
    Light bar
    Dual batteries to power a fridge, winch and lights
    Some semi DIY drawers for the back

    Most of my off-road time is getting to remote beach locations and surf breaks and I can't wait to hit the south west next month for a few weeks and test it out.

    Next is working out how to post pics

          I'll get some more pictures up soon but I have added a colour coded bullbar, dual batteries, roof rails and a short rhino platform. I spent a fair bit of time in the sand and travelling arround broken ground over the christmas period and counldn't be happier with how the new bus performed. I'm coming from an auto to the manual so it was the first time I've ever needed low gear in the sand. Once a few adjustments were made I can't beleive I never went to the manual earlier.

          The only thing I would say is I would like a little more power on the hwy. I don't tow heavy but with a small center console boat and enough camping gear for a family of 5 to camp for 2 weeks it did struggle a bit. So exhaust and chips I hear you say! lol. Time for some more research as I might do these mods before winch and lights.

            Hi Muzz, I love my manual too. Surprisingly bearable around town but off road in low range it comes into its own, particularly the amazing vehicle control in L1 & 2. Like yours, my only real gripe is the lack of kahunas on the road.

            cheers

              Latest mod was to have ARB remove the already rusting bulbar, blast and repaint it. Very poor quality paint job on the bar but it does look like they have got it right the second time.

              I have the materials to start a diy set of drawers so this is the next mod.
