  • Simmo's 150 Facelift build

Well, after the sale of my much loved 120, I have purchased a facelift 150 GXL D4D.
From new, I had the following added from ARB.

    Deluxe Winch bar, colour coded.
    ARB Underbody protection
    Hayman Reece Towbar
    OME 2" Lift
    Thule Pro racks
    5 x BFG ATKO's

Side by side, new and old.

The mods I have done so far are

    Lightforce XGT spotlights
PradoPoint sticker (old school one as I bought two for the old truck).

    Still to come

Ordered an Offroad Downunder battery tray, to be done over Xmas break.
    Reinstall the ARB Compressor
    New UHF Radio and Aerial
    Tekonsha P3 reinstall
Remove third row seats (kids are all growed up now).
Install fridge slide and maybe some drawers.
    Reinstall the OzTrail side awning
Adjust the reversing camera so I can see the tow ball...

Very nice mate! Just out of curiosity, would you happen to have a before and after pics of the 2 inch lift. I have mine booked into ARB for the same gear and curious to see how much difference there is. Cheers- Ben

How much did you end up paying for the OME 2" lift?

The suspension measurements are in the Database thread, I can dig them out if you like.
Here are the progress photos for RCA Wyoming (The local ARB dealer).
This was all done BEFORE I took delivery.

Just curious as to the size of the BFGs, did you change size from factory fitted Dunlops?
If you did what size did you go, just to a 32"?

Terry, photography.... They were the days, I'll get back to it one day.
Mav is still around, in Canberra still, but recently moved house.
We stay in touch on BookFace, I think he still has the 120.

Couple of tasks to do before the holiday ends.

Fit up the Tekonsha, and the Oricom UHF380 radio with GME aerial.
Fitted the XGT's and reinstalled the side awning that I took off the old 120..

You can see it in mine, but you can see your bumper so you'll never see yours unless you mount it higher. The Toyota one I have with the hitch in upside down and a Treg fitted is in clear view. Standard ball on or any other bar prob be hidden by the plastic bumper I guess.

                          Hi Mark,

If my eyes aren't deceiving me, over the lower part of the headlight teardrop there appears to be a black cover or paint? Does this have something to do with reflection from the bullbar as I notice the ARB bars seem to cover the very bottom of that glass on the facelift 150's?

Also, do the deluxe winch bars have plate or a shroud underneath the bottom white part of the bar - I have seen an image of the 150 ARB Sahara bar that seems to show what looks like a lot more metal under there which would make it heavy, but it is very difficult to tell in all photos I've seen.

                          Cheers,
                          Baz.

Baz, Yes, ARB put black tape over the park lights, as most of the light is covered by the bull bar. I guess its the same bar as fitted to the earlier 150's, without the teardrop on the lights. Maybe it is a legal requirement, however I have considered removing it...

As for the under body, yes, there is a plate covering the radiator, between the bar and the first bash plate, which I have had ARB versions installed.. I'll see if I can get a better photo of it.

One annoying thing abut the bar, especially being colour coded, is the reflection on the top hoops, when high beams are on, the white reflecting back into the cabin, is horrible, worse when its raining..

Thanks Mark, a valid point, I suppose the sahara bar would fix that (at the risk of exposing the lights to damage), or some matt black paint on the back of the hoops, but I imagine most wouldn't like defacing there bullbars like that.

You certainly have a good looking truck.
                              Cheers,
