  • Jimmys 150 V6 GXL Bluestorm

Following the write-off of my much loved 120 v6 in a recent hail storm I had plans to get another 120 into which I could simply transfer all of my gear.
however after plenty of searching I found most of them were starting rack up the km's
(I actually went down to Toyota to test-drive a Diesel '09 120 series - but they had this sweet blue 150)
so I opted for the 2010 v6 150 series in Bluestorm colours instead
    Sweet !
initially wasn't a big fan of the shape but it's definitely growing on me (plus of course all the cool bells and whistles inside the cab)

    Done so far
    - Airtec Snorkel
    - TJM nudge bar
    - Hella Rallye 4000 spotties (both appear to be flood)
    - Redarc SBI12D Isolator
    - Cabling for 3rd battery into rear (8mm cable + Anderson socket)
    - Cabling extra sockets in rear (USB/Cig)
    - LED Cabin lights
    - Tablet (with Oziexplorer and Engine monitoring)
    - TJM Side steps
    - 2" Tough Dog Adjustable Lift with HD springs
    - Rhino Pioneer platform

    To Do
    - Rustproof
    - Fit the awning to the Platform
    - under-awning strip LED lighting
    - Platform mounted lighting (thinking a small spotlight on each corner or maybe strip lighting all-round)
    - Drawer system with fridge drop-slide (all home made again so I get exactly what I want)
    - Finish my dual-battery monitor
    - Rear-door drop-table
    - Dual battery tray (under bonnet)
    - Glind hot shower system
    - Seat covers (swaying towards neoprene ??)
    - Steel bar
    - UHF
    - Lockers
    - Decent tyres

    As purchased

    As is now

I reckon they look better if you move the spare cover a bit. Mine's in the shed...

After not having any spare time to start on some of the more decent mods I figured i'd go for an easy win this weekend and plasti-nated my wheels!

Plus that gave me a chance to pull off all the wheels and find out why the ABS/TRC OFF lights keep coming on (still unresolved)

I gave each wheel a very good wax & grease clean and then after a couple coats of the plast-dip spray the wheels were back on!
dead easy. and damn happy with the result.

                    Jimmy,

Very nice wheels. I want to do this to my 120. Please more info on the plast dip spray? Where can I purchase some?
Did you need to take the tire off or just sprayed with tire on?

                    Thx
                    Pierre

Exactly what I was planning to do but haven't gotten around to it! Thanks for the pics. I bought 'smoke' what colour is this? Mind you I need to do 8 wheels now not just 5.

                        Hey guys

This is set I got off eBay - sold as "Matt Black"
                        http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/321619563051

I just ran some thick masking tape around the rim of the wheel and around the air valve - dead easy to remove once the paint had dried.
The paint itself is very forgiving when spraying on. I guess being a matte plus the quite thick consistency.

                        Cheers

I might clean up the trailer spare and have a go with the smoke colour I bought. See how it looks. Nice job.
