My 99 GXL

G'day, thought i'd introduce myself to the forum by posting a pic of the new (new for us)99 GXL Prado. We bought her about 6 weeks ago as a one owner vehicle with 170 000 on the clock and full Toyota service history. We had our mechanic give it the once over and he reckons we got our selves a good truck. As you can see she's pretty stock standard but i plan on throwing a bit of cash at it after christmas with the usual basic upgrades such as tyres and suspension to come first. Since buying it we have added a set of hella rallye 4000's and a factory hardcover for the spare. We haven't done much four wheeling in her yet except for a weekly trip up the beach at Bribie Island which is only a short drive from us. So any way here's the pic, hope you all like.

Welcome aboard.I've linked this post into the "rig build up" thread so members can follow your journey as you add new modifications/accessories to your pride and joy. Also keep tab of the trip reporting section. We regularly organise group outings. Also you could use the trip reporting to organise any trips you would like to do and invite other members to tag along. Once again, welcome to prado point.

Welcome to Pradopoint. First question for ya... what bull bar is that? (brand I mean).

Leon, it looks like a TJM/ECB bar. Here's the link ECB Bullbars and scroll down the page to the 90 series bar. ECB is located at 29 Snook street, Clontarf. Their number is 3897 5700

G'day snaga,it has Cruiser stickers on the rubber bumpers whether this is the brand or not i'm not sure. I see a lot of Prado's around with the same bar, they are a nice looking bar. I'm actually thinking of pulling that bar off at a later date and replacing it with a winch bar . If you like it and are after one i have seen them at wreckers from time to time. From memory i think Gold Coast 4wd wreckers have a couple there, have a look on their website, lots of other Prado parts to choose from as well.

Thanks for the welcome guys. This is a great site i only just found it the other day and have already got heaps of great tips and ideas. Looking forward to getting your tips and opinions as i add upgrades to my vehicle, I'm sure I'll have plenty of questions for you. I'll keep you updated as i progress with the buildup. I'll definitely have to tag along on one of the local trips, i've checked out all the pics and vids and it's looks like a lot of fun.

Snaga, its Toyota genuine I would say. Toyota are the only one that puts the plastic bits mounted on top of bar under the headlights. Steve

Ah dear... so many options :shock:
Didn't realise Toyota had a decent looking bar
If I go down the bull bar path it will probably be a winch bar though.

Heres some new pics showing the hellas and recently fitted MT ATZ 4ribs. Pics were taken today on Bribie island. The next mod to be installed will be an EFS 2" lift, i should have it done within the next month, can't wait.

It's definitely a genuine Toyota bar, I had the same bar on mine when I bought it (had the genuine accessories sticker on it).

G'day guys, i'm getting a new bar and winch fitted this week or early next week so i will be selling the old bar .I'm wondering what you guys think it would be worth when i go to sell it ? The old bar is in pretty good nick, it would come up looking near new with a professional polish, it has a bit of surface rust on some of the screws and bolts but they can be easily replaced. So let me know what you reckon it would be worth, it would be much appreciated.

And watch this space i'll post up some pics of the new gear once it's been fitted. I'm getting an iron man steel bar and t-max 9000lb winch.

$350-$450 maybe. I'd prob try fleabay.
The alloy bars ain't as desirable as steel for obvious reasons...
