Uniden UH400SX-RM Install

Used a Dick Smith Antenna with Coax. Cut the plug off to allow threading of the coax through the bar and firewall (reconnected with a coax connector after threading through into the cabin). The coax was threaded into the bar upright plastic (thanks to the idea from PradoPoint) through a grommet.



Ran the coax out of the pillar at the bottom and under the trims. Had to cut a lug off the bottom of the trim under the headlight so that the coax wasn't crushed.





Threaded both the coax and some power cable into the cabin through the firewall. Used the exisiting grommet as described by others (thanks again PradoPoint). The power cable will be used when I install the second battery.



Mounted the base unit on the plastic trim near the Drivers footrest. Just used strong double sided tape (if it falls on my foot sometime in the future I'll know I made a bad call). Remote mic is mounted on the centre console - I wanted somewhere where I could see it, it was out of the way and where the passenger had access.



Power for now is through the cigarette lighter. Will power off a second battery when I install one.

Time to update a few things:

Remounted the UHF radio near the driver's footrest, there is a steel bracket at the back of the kick panel that the radio mount bolts into:

It has dual positions, rear and then behind front seats, floor mounts, notice how they can extend forward:
