    Re: Kylie's 120 Series

Yah! Ok that's a new one Joey I really hadn't thought of doing that! Still we use those drink holders for our water bottles when travelling. But I like the Idea of others being able to use the CB and not just the driver. Also seen em inside that centre console box which I also liked because it gets it all out of eyesight from thieving mongrels. Although I wonder how well you'd hear it when it was all boxed up in there.

Hey Iron Paww CB doesn't get in my way at all. Hardly know it's there!.. I put the hand piece there because the guy I bought it off had a Nokia phone kit bolted right there (didn't fit my phone ..) So I just put the hand piece there to cover up the holes. It doesn't get in the way of the handbrake at all... And then at least the passenger can reach it. I too thought about putting it inside the centre console, but I tend to put junk in there so didn't, and same with the cupholders, my other half has one for his beer, and I have the other for my water!

But probably the worst thing about it is that its harder to see what channel its on, doesn't worry me because I have all the extra channels programmed and it is always on scan.

*Sigh* I wish I could sit chugging a beer while my Girlfriend drove. That'll happen when the Earth becomes square.......

Yeah I fill the centre console with junk too but I think I'd still get enough junk in there with a CB installed. Then I'm supposed to get a hands free kit for my Mobile too but I'm thinking some sort of Bluetooth earpiece is the way to go there. I really don't want to have my phone jutting out of the dashboard someplace. Then there's the eventual reversing camera that will also need an add on screen. There'll be stuff sprouting from my dashboard like damn mushrooms which I'd like to avoid. Suppose wherever you put it will mean some sort of compromise with space or ease of reaching / changing channels etc...

Here is the latest addition: rear light.

And I found the air horns tucked under the bullbar, not sure why they are there or how they work yet though :?

Here are some pics of how the rear light was put together.

Behind the steel on this pic is carpet to stop damage to my paint:

              Re: Kylie's 120 Series

              Nice job,

You may find though that due to vibrations, over time the carpet may also wear away at the paint. Carpet when left in the elements also deteriorates quickly and ends up turning into a srcrubbing pad or falls apart.

If you remove the black plastic guard/trim at the base of the spare wheel mount you may find that the plastic trim and the buffers have already started to wear away at the paint due to vibrations.

I suggest that you put in some nylon spacers behind the rear of the wheel mount, this will lift your steel bracket away from the body work.

Also, putting in the spacers will allow you to upgrade your rubber to a larger size on the rear wheel carrier.

There is a fairly detailed thread on doing the nylon spacers. If you need a hand, anyone of the Cairns PP's will be more than willing to help out I'm sure.

                Re: Kylie's 120 Series

                Hi James,

My partner is a fitter machinist and reckons he is going to turn me up some spacers. There is still an air gap between the plate/carpet and the car it is just a temporary solution, to avoid any damage in the short term.

He hasn't fully wired it up, because the switch that came with the lights is a bit dodgy - we are going to put a switch for it up near the steering wheel.

So I have spent some money over the past couple of weeks and this is what I have ended up with:-

A dual battery setup - Matson voltage sensitive cut out with auto reset circuit breakers. Battery tray was homemade and picked up factory threaded bolt holes:

A 12 volt fridge plug with heavy cable:

You work those horns out yet Kylie?? I saw some like that on Stebel's website a while back when I was looking into my airhorn. Those ones with the long cones like that were billed as the "truck horns" and had a lower pitch I think, as opposed to more "beepy" types. Then Stebel came out with the "nautilus" type cones which are meant to produce a similar sound. With two sitting there, was just wondering if you'd made any sonic booms yet????

Well my other half tested them with some electronic testing thing and has deemed that they are no good (but he could just be saying that so I don't blow him away or the little old ladies driving 20k below the speed limit...) so if anyone wants them, they are up for grabs and free. Could just be dodgy wiring that needs replacing.

You're getting rid of them!!!!! Noooooo! There's nothing better for scaring the living daylights out of drug filled goons who think they own the entire country. Upgrading to the Stebel was one of the best additions I ever did and heck I'm glad I did it. Still, if they're busted then so be it. But don't be going back to the Toyota originals.... geez who puts horns like those on a 4WD....
