Andrew, was the a complete muffler replacement of just the intermediate muffler. How much did it cost all up and if complete did you go mild or stainless and what size? Did you upgrade the dump pipe from stock as well?
Nick it was just the rear muffler, mild steel, straight through, did not upgrade the dump pipe, but probably will because I want a pyro guage fitted. The Chip and muffler cost $1,400 fitted.

After doing a few runs up the mountain (Lapstone, for those familiar) - on the first run (Tunit set at 5) it powered up starting at 90km and climbing, but it blew way too much black smoke for my liking  . I then reduced it to 4 and it maintained 90 with a little more gain (5km) and much less smoke - no more than without the chip . So I have left the setting at 4 for now and it drives good all round. I will play around with it when towing to find the optimal setting. So far so good and very happy

What about the noise increase as a result of the straight through rear muffler? Does the over half know about that or has there been any comments on any increase in noise inside orn out of the vehicle?

Yes Nick, a little louder inside and outside. It's more noticable under load inside the car and a little droning at 2,500rpm or 100kph, but nothing annoying.

Thanks John, the stone deflector is from here http://www.stonestomper.com.au/ great idea as it protects the front of the camper as well as the rear of the Prado/window. The perspex window protector I made up myself, but don't really use it now.

yep - that would have been me.

might be doing this trip backwards, with all of the rain out birdsville way, but this is the plan.

Penrith --> Bourke --> Birdsville -- into the desert for a look --> Mount Isa --> Tennant Creek --> Uluru --> Oodnadatta --> Wilpena Pound --> Silverton --> Penrith

should be a good trip. a few more stops along the way but that is main parts.

Got the ARB battery tray and second battery today. The lads at Battery World have been great. They supplied me with all the cable, fuses, lugs etc and lent me their crimper for me to install it all. I'll post some pics of the finished product in the next day or so.

I knew you'd ask :| They talked me into a Deka Seamate AGM  They assured me that it will charge faster than a FWC and was the most suitable for my application. They did discount it somewhat which ultimately sealed the deal (pardon the pun).
