My Bro, down south, D'Entracausteau sand hills, overcooked it on approach to sandhill and fell off track. Tree stopped him rolling over, small dent in roof gutter but not a huge amount of damage. Had some mates with us who winched it out.

Great rig!! Just a quick question about what brand/model your long range water tank is?

Hi there vscorsa, their not a long range water tank they are made by longranger and there capacity is roughly 25L for memory and are about $450/$500, great for that quick wash of the hands and are up out the way which is good, I would like one but think for what they are a bit expensive (just my opinion) but if its some thing that you would use regualary (like I reckon Millsy does) then worth it. Cheers Steve

Yeah Steves right. Not huge capacity but very handy for the long distances we have to go around here. They are tucked away nicely and saves you having to carry a jerrycan of water when travelling. I like having the water onboard, even just for the 1200km to Perth in the case of cooling problems or coolant loss for any reason. Good for days at the beach, dog water while travelling, muddy kids etc
                Cheers

that water tank is great. I wish they made one for the 150, much easier than carrying the 20L around in the back, which then gets stuck behind everything else.

How do you find this water tank? My kids are forever needing their hands washed and it would be useful away camping.
Do you have any problems with it 4wd'ing, ie does it touch anywhere with low clearance or does it tuck up higher than the fuel tank and towbar. .
How do you stop someone just turning the tap and dropping all your water?
                    How do you fill it?
                    How much are they?
                    Cheers

Gumboot, if you have a good look you can see the water tank tucked up in behind the rear fuel tank. I havnt seen a way to stop anyone turning it on but would probably be able to make some thing or change the sort of tap thats fitted. Its filled by when you open the rear cargo door there is a bit of plastic which is part of the rear bar right in the centre (usually where people with after market rear air bags fit the valves for them), it fills from there (well the one I saw did unless they have changed it) Price is when last checked $500 not fitted but very easy to fit yourself. Would be absolutely ideal for the kids as we all know the mud and crap they like to get all over themselves when out an about, hence why I always have a packet or more of wet wipes in the car, Ive probably spent over $500 already in baby wipes LOL..... Great idea. Im sure Millsy will correct me if I have made a mistake with any thing Ive informed you about.Cheers Steve.ps Picture of it http://api.viglink.com/api/click?for...13267025102241

Just found a page about the tank believe it or not in 4x4 action number 174 page 261. Will see if I can scan it for you and post on here, it was the previous issue (new one out now 175) so dont see any problems. It holds 21L not 25L like I first said. Will see how I go and will let you know if it doesnt work (not real great with computers lol)..........Cheers Steve

                          Thanks Steve for the answers.
Well there you go, I never noticed that bit of plastic before! A good place to fill it.
They certainly are are trying to recover their R&D money!
Am also looking at the Black Widow unit for that sort of money which also has an inbult pump and holds more but you lose interior space with that option.
                          cheers

One more question. The article mentions a plastic taste to the water form the tank. Did you notice that at all?
Trying to understand if this is a one off or common to all units.

                                Cheers
