    Re: SIK-120 : Steve's 08 D4-D

I have seen simple white stickers over a clear adhesive that are made to suit these switches. I don't recall if these were here in Australia or somewhere like the UK. Main problem is being a sticker it can peel and look ordinary but at least it will be a neat marking option. You could also look into having them professionally printed. I believe they make up a standard silk screen and then apply the colour through this. It could be expensive if you can find someone who will do it.

        thanks for that Joey,

can you post a pic of how big they actually are? have you got them on the switch or just under/over the switch? i wanted to put a label on the switch between the illumination light and the actual on incation light.

the other thing i would like to do is get a label that fit over the larger blue light park and have the label as a mask so when the light shines through you can read it.

these switches are bloody bright when they're on and i'm trying to find out if they make LED versions as these get bloody hot when they're on.

            Hi Steve
Great build up Mate, Lucky bugger that you have access to tracks close to home. You can fit the mods then offroad test them
I am interested in the IPF 816's on the rear of your rack. How are they wired? ie. with the reverse lights, switched etc. Sourced from and approximate price?
Keep up the good work mate Cheers Troy

Don't be, we all get there in the end. I've still got lots to do but the Mrs. is pulling me up a bit lately, but, still got lockers to go in, the centre roof mount DVD for the young one, some new wheels and tyres, and so the list goes on.

as for product testing being 5 minutes away, you gotta love it. 4wd'ing is part of the lifestyle up here and so when they try to make the 50mm lift rule, i can't see it being very popular up here. i've always taken our backyard for granted, where we still have heaps of places close by to wheel, but now that i have a family, it becomes more precious as you want it to still be around when the young fella gets old enough to appreciate the great outdoors.

as for the 816's, i got them through ARB as ARB deal only with IPF lights. they are a good spread beam work light, and are quite bright for halogen globes. I have them wired seperately from reverse lights and have them on a seperate switch. i turn them on or off as i need. i also used a relay in the circuit. this is also the same as the forward facing 840's. i don't know the exact retail price, as i got a deal with all the lights together.

i have the rear vision camera, and the standard reverse lights give enough light around town. i only use the roof rack lights when we're in the scrub.

                Re: SIK-120 : Steve's 08 D4-D

over the last couple of months, i've added a few things here and there to the prado.

got a whole heap of stuff from MSA.

MSA seat covers for the front buckets
MSA centre console cover (specific for prado, and its a bloody paint o put on)
MSA seat organiser behind passenger front
MSA air lumbar supports on both front seats
MSA rear wheel dirty gear/storage bag (its massive)

i already have the MSA dash organiser from when i bought the prado last year.

and i've been thinking about the new MSA seat organiser with the drop down table for behind the drivers seat.

i've also fitted and wired up the IPF lights on the roof rack. i was quite surprised with the light out put of the IPF 840's. not to shabby.

LOL. i spend about 20 mins trying to put that sucker on.

you have to try and get the back edge (black edging) on the rear of the console while its open, but be careful not to pull it under too much, otherwise you will not be able to get it over the front edge.

you will need to use some force, and it feels like you're going to break the console lid off. don't be too scared though.

                      good luck.

well, so far i've had the front right hand suspension components replaced. (new genuine toyota)

                                upper control arm
                                lower control arm
                                spindle
                                hub/bearing
                                new tyre

had it wheel aligned, not happy with it still.

currently in the panel shop to have the front right hand side re-aligned, as the bull bar hit the guard, the guard hit the bonnet and cracked the headlight, the top of the air box is rubbing on the underside of the bonnet.

then there's the back door. new door skin and rear bumper. spare wheels on back doors are not good.

also, its going on the chassis aligner, just to see if the chassis is suspect. when i tromp it, the prado pulls left with the steering wheel straight ahead, and on the over run or backing off, it goes right. something not right.

moral of the story and lesson learnt: you can't go hard in a prado.
