    Re: SIK-120 : Steve's 08 D4-D

replacement HID globes will cost me $30 a pair. so really, i'm not worried if the globes and spotties go. thats what insurance is for.

also, the HID kits cost me $100 for a pair of ballast and globes. i have one spare as i have 3 spotties.

    cheap as.

looking at getting some H3's for the fogs at that price. either to go 6000k to match the spotties and LED parkers, or go full Jap style with 3000k yellow fogs.

got a chance to take a couple of pics of the stuff i've fitted over the past few months.

        Brand New underguard.

1 week old underguard. (it works)

ARB Compressor mounted (note the chair leg stopper. its rubber and suits 22mm diameter chair legs. keeps all the crud out of the outlet)

another pic of the ARB tray and ARB compressor

HID's the IPF spotties (El Cheapo conversion kit, working alright so far)

HID's (they are 6000k light temps. not overly happy. might got for the 4300k when i can be bothered)

Got some new Plate for my Birthday (and a shot of the underguard)

here's another shot of the underguard. (its a PITA when it comes to servicing though)

also got an ARB tow bar. i had a gen. toyota one, but i chose ARB over it. the gen. one is cast and only bolts to the back and underside of the chassis. the ARB one is fully welded and bolted front, back and the underside of the rear chassis crossmember.

            stronger IMHO.

a couple of pics out playing.

pic was taken just before the creek dropped in to about 1.2m deep. water over the bonnet.

these pics were about a month ago before all the monsoonal rains hit.

airing up. my 18 month old son only saw me do it once and learnt straight away. amazing.

just a few updates on the 120.

snorkel beany. have noticed the air filter is cleaner, which should mean longer air filter replacement intervals. Much like a K&N which needs to be cleaned and oiled. also stops all the christmas beetles and grasshoppers making their way into my air box.

also got around to wiring up a trailer plug. got it up and out of the way so it won't get bent or damaged when playing around off road.

used a genuine toyota wiring harness, complete with 7 pin round socket, moutning bracket, grommets and a factory plug in plug with a fuse for the fuse block. worst part is the dicky grommets that replace the ones you take out.

Oh, the Uni filter . does it increase fuel consumption?

i haven't noticed a decrease in power or increase in fuel consumption yet. time will tell. apparently also not meant to be used on turbo charged engines as it 'restricts' air flow. i have noticed my air filter is cleaner and no more bugs in the air box.

as for going out for a drive, there are a handful of PP'ers here in darwin now. might have to organise a sunday drive or something.
