        Re: OldGreyGuy's 2008 D4D Grande

GME TX3340 - Seriously how small is this thing?

I have some installing to do this coming weekend, the UHF is going in so I can get some range and keep the Uniden UH049SXs for when we are not with the car.

In preparing for this install I have setup the Antenna and am about to install the UHF unit under the driver's seat. The unit arrived this morning and I was just amazed at just how small it was. Pictures of a unit on it's own are often misleading and I wasn't aware of how small this system is. Here are some pictures of the top, front and back of the unit sitting on my hand for scale:

        Included with the unit are:
        - UHF Unit
        - Microphone with controls
        - Plastic Mounting Bracket
        - 1.8 metre microphone extension cable
        - 1.8 metre fused power cables
        - Microphone holder
        - Mounting screws
        - RJ45 Male-Male connector
        - Plastic mounting box for RJ45 connector
        - GME sticker

Looks like I will be having fun on the weekend.

I've checked with SWMBO (aka Mrs OldGreyGuy) about that money stuff, appears it grows on trees or something because whenever she wants something then she just uses the little magic plastic thingy and she can have it. Purchases for the Prado seem to require a full set of financials, including profit & loss statements, cash flow projection worksheet and contracts signed in A-.

haha. I know exactly what you are saying there OGG. A buisness case needs to be written which must be at least 40 pages with a simple summary on the first page without any techo jargon, run past a comittee for approval (of which I'm not a member), stamped (usually with Deigned or Rejected) before it could potentially be scheduled into a future budget as there is currently no capital available yet a new skirt or pair of shoes seems to magiacally appear very frequently.

There are a few problems there, Mrs OldGreyGuy was really sick last week, so was my daughter, her partner was recovering from an operation and my son was having exams and completing assignments for uni. All in all my birthday was rating very low on the scale of things.

The other major problem is that it is Her 50th in a couple of weeks and we seem to have a difference of opinion about priorities. Apparently the ARB Deluxe Winch Bar, spotlights and suspension costs about the same as her present but those items somehow have a much lower priority. Since it is my role in life to earn money, apparently it is her role in life to assign the spending priorities. I can't see it myself but then I was never much for logic.

I seem to be losing this argument, I think I'll just go for a drive around the block.
