New car 28 Dec 08. Turbo Diesel GXL 6 speed manual, Charcoal leather and towbar.
Additions to date:
ARB deluxe winch bar and winch
Dual Batteries
Hella Rally 2000 lights
Safari Snorkel
Power chip
Cargo barrier
Old Man Emu Suspension
Uniden UHF Radio
Rhino Basket

Wish List
New Tyres....Desperately trying to wear these out. 30000km nearly there.
Lockers........Why cant women see their worth. Yet will pay the equivalent for a pair of shoes.
More time to use all this stuff!!





Before Suspension Lift.........Sad in front from weight of bullbar and winch


After OME Fitted
795mm Front
835mm Rear (measured from bottom of rim to top of guard)
Has settled about 10mm in the front and 5mm in rear after 3000km


UHF Radio. Remote mounted behind dash


Cargo Barrier Install........Who said pre ducted air models dont fit. Some mods to bracket required.


Ebay cheap as Powerchip..........Works tops at approx 1/3 the price of other brand I have had.

Looking good. Nice work with the barrier.

With your TDC chip have you seen any comparison to DP or Steinburg or any others?

Found them a couple of them fleabay. Seem to only suit a common rail diesel.

The first seems to be a regular seller and the second might be a once off.




I would love to add one of these sort of things to my arsenal BUT I've got the older 96Kw engine and this is a no can do with this chip :cry:

Hi Matt,

Curious to know why your Prado doesn't have the mighty D4D badge above the side indicators considering it's an 08 Diesel? And its also missing the "turbo sticker"? :shock:

Hey Nick, Bought chip on Fleabay, have only seen em for commonrail also. Works like a beuty though! Had hilux and brother had prado with older 3.0ltr engine. Both had DP Chips. Work very well paid bout $1200 for DP. TDC was $450 thought I would give it a go......Good enough for me. Think may still have DP Chip from Hilux and Prado removed them when vehicle sold. Will take a look. Matt

Debadged car the day I got it. My son has a collection on his bed head. Prefer without badges. Did however find out that the rear Toyota emblem above the GXL badge has holes underneath it........DOH! Lucky I didnt destroy it taking it off.

21/09/09 New ARB 2.5m Awning installed

Guys at ARB worked out mounting with brackets from HD racks and tie down hooks from sportz racks

Rhino tray in couple of weeks.......

Came across photo of old Turbo Diesel Hilux.
Still missin it and still loved it after 300000km.....no problems and not a rattle! Hope Prado is half the car....Better so far!

Next mod was DIY Rear Door Table.... After a few mins on PP looking at threads, plucked up the courage to drill holes in the car. Straight to BCF and got bits, found some 16mm MDF in the shed, pulled out the old power tools and couple hours later.......PRESTO! Thanks to all those before me with the ideas and photos. Made it a breeze.




Cost a total of $60 for the bits excluding the MDF.

Got to test it out today. Nth Richmond to Mt Irvine via Burralow. Some better quality photos to come.

Next mods............

Kaymar rear door spacer and light. Might make the light and save $200 or so.
Rhino tray.

Had auto elec at work so got him to wire anderson plug for charging campertrailer and tipping trailer


Also ran wires for brake controller........just need to decide where to mount one!!

Decision made.....found Redarc remote brake controller

Added Rhino roof basket

Managed to remodel one of the side steps so am having it repaired till I can afford a set of side bars and steps

New Cooper ST's on Friday and Kaymar rear door spacer.........Merry Xmas to me.

Redark remote mounted brake controller

Took about 20 minutes, came with all bits required.

Finished product but needs wiring. New Cooper ST's too!
