Picked up an 07 VX V6 model earlier this year. Being the VX it ticked all the boxes I wanted with colour, leather, traction control etc, except I would have preferred a diesel. But diesels of the same spec and age were 8k more expensive which blew the economy aspect out of the water and I do love the power of the V6!
So far I have fitted:
ARB Delux Bar
I picked this up off Ebay had it colour coded and revamped with all new fittings by Westside 4x4 all up half the price of a new one and looks brand new!
Lightforce XGT's converted to 50w HID's fitted to the bar.
These things are BRIGHT! I fitted a combo lense to one of them and am going to fit a full spread to the other.
Redarc Dual battery system
Installed with a dual purpose 140AH Lead Acid Battery, heavy duty wires installed to the tailgate for a 3rd battery or to power a caravan. Upgraded the wires to the original socket in the back and installed a new one on the opposite side as well. I have replaced the original starter battery with an N70 760CCA unit to round it out. It runs my 70L Yum Cha fridge for 3 days!
Bilstien suspension package for a 2" lift.
I also had this fitted by Westside 4x4. It has a few squeaks in it which I will get sorted as soon as I have some time. If I had my choice again I would save the $500 on the Bilsteins and go with OME.
BFG AT's LTs
I went with the higher profile for more rim protection and a bit more clearance off road. The verdict is still out on the economy changes...
ARB Snorkle
While it is a petrol and it wont submerge like my old oiler used to I still like the idea of not having to worry about ingression. I was surprised to find a noticeable power increase with it too!
Experience so far:
I usually hit Fraser twice a year fishing and other trips once a month. This year has been hectic and it has barely seen any action at all! A few weeks ago, realising it was 9 months since i bought it and it had not needed to see low range yet, I took it for a bit of an excursion to Glasshouse Mountains. With the balding grandtreks on it and was surprised with just how well the traction control worked. Having come from a 4WD with 5" lift 33" muddies, front locker and tightened LSD I did not expect it to make it some of the places it did. I ripped off the mudguards and bent the side steps straight up but apart from that It handled the hard stuff surprisingly well!
I will upload some photos as soon as I get home in daylight to take them!
