Do you think the 4 tyre TPMS is enough or if you had your time again would you buy the 8 tyre version?

I had wanted to get the 6 tyre version as I dont see the value in monitoring spare tyres, but I left it so late I could only get the 4 tyres. I was told though that I can get another 2 sensors and a relay and upgrade the 4 tyre to a six tyre, I am not convinced that is correct but I will look into it when I get a chance.

Hey Andrew,

I'm only up to page 5 of your Rig Build Up, but already I have some ideas for DH so we will have to pull fingers out of bums and get things sorted out in our shed to make room for some of our 4WDing stuff that isn't permanet and so he has time at night to make and install some of the DIY mods.

Then it'll be a job of him writing it up, me editing and uploading photos. DH not going to enjoy the amount of time being spent on here - oh well, s*#t happens!

Will keep reading yours, then read other PP members Rig Build Ups for ideas and I'm sure we will come up with some of our own along the way too. In fact already taken some today of how my fog lights (yellow kind) are going to be mounted because the previous set up is too low for 4WDing.

Whilst most everything on the Prado performed well on my recent trip across Madigans I did have one major issue, that being the hole in the radiator. So high on my list was to make a new front bash plate to replace the ARB one with the cut outs for the tie down hooks, as mentioned previously I have cut the tie down hooks off so I dont need that hole which allowed a stick to damage the radiator.

Original ARB plate with semi circle cutout.




Modified bash plate (done in the middle of the Simpson Desert)




I made a whole new plate once I got home, this is befoe powdercaoting.




Hopefully no sticks can get past this one!

I have made a replacement for the rear factory plate, you need to go back to post # 205. The front plate is looking very sad and sorry, it actually needed a bit of persuasion to get it into a shape good enough to bolt back on. I have the steel for the new bash plate, just gotta put some time aside and get it done!

I had started on making my rear plate before AMTS starting producing his, otherwise I probably would have grabbed a set of his. And as pointed out our designs aren't compatable. Mine was made to match the factory plates and AMTS are a full replacement.

I am afraid I'm an "office person" and as such any mods are professionally installed and paid for.......but great work, and with what you have done you'll need to keep it for a long time as you'll never get you money back when you come to sell.

But in the meantime...enjoy!!

What else have you got planned?

Hi Pradod, glad you like the build up! I joined PP for a similar reason although in my case it was Chippy who had all the answers to my questions.

Still loads more to do on the buildup, quite a few more custom projects in the pipeline. I have my eyes on a new set of wheels that should be pretty sweet (haven't seen these on any one elses rig). I could write a list but there is only so much you can type in each post

Ah Chippy - now there is a pioneer! Not to get too far off topic, but does anyone know what happened to him?

I too would love a new set of wheels, but a bit difficult to justify at the moment so in the mean time I will live vicariously through you Andrew.
