Nice work Andrew, I didn't realise that the OME struts had a floating spring seat. It certainly makes fine tuning the ride height a lot easier. I see that 6mm is about as thick as you can go with the strut top spacer before you run out of thread on the studs

Yes 6mm is maximum for a strut spacer unless you change the studs, If I had some 12mm alloy sitting around I might have changed the studs, but buying alloy plate that thick would be a pain out here in the sticks.

Ever since my UHF got sumbmerged in Nolans Brook a couple of years ago it has never really been quite the same for some reason
Anyway with the GTG fast approaching I thought now was the time to upgrade to a new 80 channel unit. I was pretty happy with the GME pre its bath; so have gone the same way again. I installed the GME TX3520 with remote head, putting the head and the main unit in the same place as the old unit, but this is only temporary until I get time to relocate it.
Also updated the Ariel at the same time to a GME 4705.

IPF HID Upgrade
Upgraded the IPF's to HID today, I used the newpro tech HID kit here http://www.newpro-tech.com.au/C55wHIDspot.htm
Seems to be all pretty good quality stuff and instructions were clear enough even for me
I went out and took some pics of the light output but they turned out to be total crap pictures, might try again tomorrow night for some better ones, anyway they seem pretty good, maybe not quite as good as I expected but a big improvement all the same.
You may notice the 2 bolts at about 4 and 8 O'clock on the inside of the light case, I added these stategically placed to stop the IPF cover spinning back and forth and rubbing the paint off the lights.
Given I scored a couple of vouchers to spend with Glen at 4wdsupplies.com.au I think a LED lightbar to compliment it should give me some awesome light for might drives.

AJ what colour globes did you get? In my IPF's I put 55w, 6000k and running with 2 spots and 2 spreads. I could not be happier with the light output and the way the road lights up in front of meOur 6 year old and 3 year old try their hardest to make sure there is no time or money for the other baby

Have you seen the new IPH HID's? The old spreads were a different glass lense to the spots. With the new IPF spreads the lense is the same as the spot but they have a new internal reflector.
I havent seen them running yet though.
Cheers

How did you secure the ballast etc inside the light? Same as what's mentioned in the install instructions? Otherwise the loose items will wear the inside of the light.

Winston.
I used some sikaflex to secure my ballasts in side the light housing. Let them dry for a a day before driving.
My ballasts haven't moved at all

I plan to put the Lightbar on the roofrack, but I have something special in mind for that to make it legal, not saying anymore yet as I haven't worked out all the fine details. You will all just have to wait and see!
Ballast etc is attached with Sikaflex, I will keep an eye on how it goes when on some rough roads.
Upgrade is 55w 5000k.

My rig build is not only meant to be a list of the Mods; but also for me its a record of my jouney which includes trips. I have previously randomly put pics throughout the build of me out and about, given that 2012 is rapidly coming to an end I thought I would post a few pics of my year of 4wdriving, mostly for myself but I hope others enjoy.
2012 for me revolved around the recces for the 2012 GTG, my epic trip across Madigans and of course the culmination being the 2012 GTG. All in all a fantastic year of 4 wheelin, touring, camping and generally having a great time.
Enjoy
