Of all the factors I took into consideration before buying this, price was barely on the radar. I had a range of criteria, some I have listed above and others that aren't relevant to anyone but me. This system is the only one that met all of my criteria, buying something cheaper that didn't meet my criteria but did a heap of other things I don't need would make no sense to me.

Great read, i recently bought a 2008 GXL and have been getting ideas from you.
I just bought the dual battery volt metre from solidkit, was wandering how you hooked it
up ? i want it turn on with ignition but problem would the second battery will be always powered on.
Would have to switch it through the negative wire but is there another option without an additional switch?

I have a foot in each camp as to how I hooked mine up, the main battery feed is from the cigarette lighter circuit, so switched through the ignition. The second battery is picked up from my USB power outlets in the rear of the console, so that one stays on permanently.
You should be able to run the earth wire through a relay that is switched through the ignition, meaning both will come on with the ignition. The problem I see with having them only on with the ignition is that generally you turn the ignition when you start the engine, once the engine is running all they are reading is the alternator output. So the real value in the meter is when the engine is off, which most often means the ignition is off as well.

After a bit of googling i found this http://www.the12volt.com/relays/page1.asp
I will try the wiring for converting a positive output to negative.

Well that is sad
Dare I ask where I need to look as to why?
Was a pleasure traveling with you and am very thankful for having you and the rest of the SA GTG crew showing me around my home state.
Hope to catch you on the trails some day soon.Cheers, Leon

Its correct, it is very unlikely he will read these comments, about the same chance as Aaron running this as a respectable forum where paid advertisers are treated properly. Enough from me, because it is very unlikely justice will be done other than me being banned for yet again highlighting the fact this forum has a cancer that is getting out of control. That of course will entail someone telling Aaron just like I have let AJ know the well wishes etc.
Might go grab the pradopoint calendar I didn't receive and cross off how many days before the next valuable contributor get p155ed off enough and signs out permanently.
