  • Huggies 05 GXL

Me and my family have converted from the darkside after alot of looking around this website and finaly bought ourselves a prado.
I have always owned nissans and zooks , but when it has come time we want to start traveling and my last nissan wasnt set up for it and it liked to drink as much as i did .

    so we bought this

It came with the bullbar ,ipfs, roofracks, the direct injection gas and a gme uhf
I changed the lights over for my lightforces.
With the proceeds of the nissan getting sold i went and bought some stuff for the prado
which i got all the iron man stuff from climax suspension and he realy looked after me

and a suspension kit which i didnt get pics of before i fitted it
and some stuff for the camper

This is how she sits as of today

    and a flex pic

old measurement was front 720 and rear 770
now it sits 815 front and 820 rear

im sitting on the gold coast drinking beer and we are 2200km into our 2 week trip away. we drove straight from newcastle to fraser in one hit towing our camper. the prado ran well but was using about 20l per 100. on the island we went to the lighthouse on sunday and played on the rocks on the way . the rest of the week we explored most of the island and done fishing inbetween .i can not fault the way suspension or the car went it was just a pity i couldnt fill up on lpg as fuel was 1.90l up there . ill up.oad some picks when i get home later in the week

looking good huggie, the awning is a gr8 bit of kit, makes for easy times when you need some shelter from the elements, what did the awning cost you, mine was about $400 2 years ago, its an open sky which is the same as yours and the arb. Enjoy fraser while ya there ya lucky bugger.cheers samo

Well done Huggie, good to hear all went well and thanks for sharing it with us. 20lt fuel economy when towing, plus racks and awning sounds about right (so my brother tells me).

yeah you are right it was . The inland tracks were good except the track from happy valley to the fresh water lake out that way was starting to get a little iffy but fun and one of the tracks to lake wabby was starting to get a little washed out . But other then that the island seemed to be in good condition

Im hoping that with the new extractors it will be doing a little better . The camper was packed as much as we could get into it , and the car had 2x 40l engles in it and all the junk you need for a 4y/o and a 1 y/o . We also over packed with food stuff so yeah we had a big load on .
One thing i learnt is i will never go back with a 1 y/o as i had to carry him everywhere on my shoulders and now im paying for it . But plans are in action to go again next year .
