  • Does the Bluetooth music streaming still work. Interested why you have an iPod hard connected? Unless you don't have an iPhone? Also, does your replacement unit work with the factory microphone or did you still need to install a remote mic?

    Looks like a great unit.

    When does the Drifta arrive?

    Cheers, Sam.

    • Hi Sam

I have an iPhone but the wife does not (some Blueberry thing) so I connected the iPod for her. The A2DP streaming from the iPhone still works and my phone overrides the iPod. Still had to use the remote mic, which is bit of a pain but you cannot see the remote mic unless you really look for it so I am happy with that.

Thanks, I am happy with it. I will start to play with the software soon to get the Hema maps working on it so I have on and off road. I have the keys etc to do it so one day when I get a spare 10 minutes I shall do it.

The Drifta arrives early August, cannot wait but it will be some time before it goes in as I cannot see us camping again until early in the new Year. We may do Fraser for a week over the Christmas break but will see how little Abigail goes.

      Cheers Dan

              Hi Ross

Yes I did, I installed the outback drawers however I just sold them to another PP member as I need the 7 seats again as we have a new family addition. They are a great bit of gear and I was sorry to see them go but I did order a set of Drifta draws that will sit up on top of the seats so I can have draws when need on trips etc. Best of both worlds.

              Cheers Daniel

                  • Looks good, so did you ascertain if the factory camera is 5v or 12v?

I don't suppose we could see the wiring diagram that comes with this unit?

The camera is 6volt, no wiring diagram sorry. The unit is plug and play except for the camera wiring.

                      • So could you use a step up transformer from 6v to 12v from the camera to the head unit or did you just end up using a 12v camera?

And just confirming that your phone buttons on the steering wheel still work.

                        • Hey Paul, sorry mate meant call you today about it. I am convinced the camera will work however my first unit was faulty and I am certain in damaged the camera. I have installed a new camera to the front and rear.

All phone buttons and A2DP Bluetooth work but voice control does not.

Give me a call tomorrow mate when you have a spare 5 or better yet drop in next time you head past and check it out.

                          • Hi Daniel, does your unit output 6v for the camera supply? Or did you use a step-down transformer?

It would be great to see how you interfaced it or quick rundown?

                            Thanks in advance.

                            • No sorry, I had to replace my OE camera with a new one that is 12v and I used the OE harness to send the signal and power. It is easy to do just gently probe the 2 red wires on the OE harness on the back of the small OE screen. You will see the Coax on the plug as well, it is sort of coax as the shield wire runs in its own sheath as does the signal, weird. Sorry I do not feel like pulling it apart again, it was bit of an ordeal after the 30th time due to the camera issues. There is a good post in the electrical 150 section about putting in an override switch and this is where I got all my info from.

                              Cheers Daniel

                              • My new Drifta Draws arrived last week and I spend 10 minutes today trying to work out how to mount them and my new ARB Fridge Slide. I also picked myself up the new ARB Fridge Tie Down Kit, looks like it will work with my trusty Waeco.

As Sam (hookedon4wding) has said, I was surprised how easy the draws slide. The build quality is also great. Perfect for our needs and a great deal including the table which also acts as a pull out table when you want to do something inside the car.

I have the side panels to cut, glue and install next weekend as well as mounting the draws. I think I will do what Sam has done with the tie down point and a turn buckle.

I also got the internal storage tray.

Not bad for what I paid, not as strong as the Outback System I had but will do our needs for years to come. In and out in 5 minutes max so it has won me. I will post some of the finished product ASAP. That reminds me I also have to finish installing our Drifta camper kitchen in readiness for summer!
