  • Snaga's new, new ride... Prado 2017 150 GXL

    So, in true form. Just as I got the build of my car to pretty much how I want it... it's time to sell it
    Out with my 2008 120 GXL and in with a shiny new 2017 GXL.
    First new car for me, 11k's on the clock so a total blank canvas this time.

    How it sits now... had a few things added.

    From the factory,
    * Leather pack, includes heated/cooled seats and electric adjustments.
    * Weather shields on front windows.
    * UV tinting on all windows
    * Bonnet protector
    * Rear cargo mat (until I rip everything out for cargo draws and barrier)
    * Rust protection, paint protection and leather protection... (I know what you're saying. They don't work but I don't really care as it was the warranty I was buying. 15 year no rust guarantee etc... etc...)

    Mods so far,
    * Tow bar installed by Wynnum Towbars
    * Tow Pro Elite Brake controller installed by Wynnum Towbars
    * Dual battery with BCDC controller feeding back to anderson plugs for the caravan and one in the cargo area for the fridge. Also has the solar input wired up and an LED voltage readout in the cargo area installed by TJM Brendale.
    * Sandgrabba Mats front and 2nd row footwells.
    * KAON pet and light cargo barrier - 03/05/2018 Installed

    Accessories to fit from the 2008 120
    * Under dash, remote UHF and shiny new GME AE4705B aerial (DONE)
    * amts compressor and fuel filter bracket with ARB compressor and fuel filter
    * Rhino roof rack if it fits... toyota probably made a 5% change so I have to buy new ones. (DONE)
    * Foxwing
    * Lightforce LED215 spotties (requires somewhere to fix them to though ) (DONE)

    Probable mods...
    * TJM steel bull bar (DONE), maaaaybe a winch (NOT YET)
    * TJM Snorkel (DONE)
    * New tyres, probably BF Goodrich AT KO2
    * 2" TJM Suspension lift with airbags(DONE)

            Photographed a 150 acre property near Mt Mee today so grabbed a quick snap of the 'blank canvas' while I was scooting around the property between cattle yards and sheds
            Added to first post.

              Picked up myself a KAON "pet and light cargo" barrier today... need to install that this week and hopefully the shelves from my 120 might fit with a few minor tweaks as well.
              Cheers, Leon

                Interested in your thoughts on the cargo barrier.

                  FWIW, I have had my Kaon barrier for over 12 months. I have used it on trips to central Aus, Vic high county and Fraser Is. I love it. I have a first aid kits attached to both the cabin side and cargo side. Also have a 1kg fire extinguisher attached to it. Works well and is practical (doesn't steal space from behind the rear seats. It is very easy to remove if required (like when you want to use the third row or drop a second row seat for long cargo.

                    Installed the KAON barrier today and it was as easy as they say it is... although I will need to cut down the bolt length of the plastic knob as it touches the roof lining and I could imagine it'll either leave a mark which isn't so bad but I suspect it'll cut a hole in the lining with some vibrations.

                    Cheers, Leon

                      So the challenge today was to modify my old home made shelf out of my 120 and make it fit into the 150 (over the 3rd row seats) I'll be investigating a cargo system with the seats removed down the track...
                      First pic... finished product (for the moment)

                      150's cargo area is a whole lot shorter than the 120 was... had to trim this back to the rubber (using toyota cargo mat as template.

                      The rear door must angle inwards more than the 120 so I couldn't fit the complete unit in... cut the side and top off and then screw back together once the base is in and secure.

                      Just used M6 loop bolts in place of the tie down points and ran straps to secure it in place until I have time to come up with a better solution.

                      And if you're wondering how much smaller the 150 cargo area is ... about this much

                      Cheers, Leon

                        Found the same thing. I just added another washer.

                          fair call... nice simple fix.
                          KAON said they'd make a change on the next batch possibly...
