Re: Darren's GXL TD 150
Tracklander alloy roof rack fitted this weekend. This was a really tough call for me. I am really happy with the rack but struggled to justify the cost, to myself, let alone the wife! I needed a full length rack as i needed to store an Oztent RV5. I could have gone for the ARB one or Powerful 4x4 but neither looked quite right (top heavy) and wouldn't fit the tent neatly or safely. In the end i coughed up and i'm happy with the low profile design (low feet).
Managed to get a great deal on a ARB 2.5m awning as the whole world and their dog seems to be selling them on special at the moment (BCF, OzTrail, Etc @ $259) and ARB matched the price within $10 whilst i was there.
Transferred my shovel holders from my old rack. I drilled and mounted everything directly. I'n not going to get sucked into the $150 shovel holder and $100 awning bracket game.
Firestone airbags also installed in the rear. Looking at the photo they have lifted the back end but i didn't have time to take before and after measurements during the install. I am very happy with the amount of adjustment they provide. Lets see how they go with all of the camping gear and 100ltrs of water over Easter.
Also in the photo is my 900mm antenna for my GME TX3340 which is pretty standard and trial fittment of the my DIY 3 piece sand flag ready for our easter trip to Lucky Bay and Kalbarri. LED lights to be fitted to the roofrack and awning this week to match the rear door unit. Head torches shouldn't be an issue on this trip!
